I personally have it set to 720p, as there is no point in wasting cpu power rendering these games at 1080p, and at 1080p, a lot of shaders will slow the device down, whereas they work fine at 720p

Also, as per inside that file, you must stop the N64 and Dreamcast rendering at even 720p.

These lines are there, probably preceded with a ; so they don't take effect. That semi colon must be removed, and the lines need to be:

system.es.videomode=CEA 4 HDMI
Thats near the start

global.videomode=CEA 4 HDMI
Thats probably around line 300

n64.videomode=CEA 4 HDMI
dreamcast.videomode=CEA 4 HDMI

Those 2 will be around line 400 ish

you have to format your SSD disk in exfat format. Plug it to your Pi, load Recalbox and choose your SSD drive (give it a name) in the menu.
RCB will reboot and create all required folders on your SSD.

So I did that and recalbox found it with no issues but the issue remained.

I decided to check the drive one more time and I discovered that the file system somehow duplicated itself.

This is what my drive had on it for example:

Share—>system name—>roms

But it also had a roms folder as well and that looked like this:

Share—>roms—>system name—>roms

My files were all in the first set except for one system. After I moved the files all to share—>roms—>system name, the game list was finally updated correctly.

I’m not sure what happened to cause the issue but it may have been caused by me originally formatting the drive without a drive letter and then after I had installed it I removed it and hooked it up back to my computer but this time I assigned a drive letter to it. I then reinstalled it in the pi and selected the newly named drive.

Easy enough fix thankfully.

Nevermind. I swear this always happens with me, I post a question and as soon as its submitted my issue goes away.

The only thing I did was to swap HDMI ports. I don't know why that would change anything as I original booted with it in the opposite port. I also now realize that the left port is the one closest to USB C plug but when using the NES case the actual USB C plug is on the other side via a daughter board.

Thanks for the link but it looks like the files need to be uncompressed first. The batch file will help as far as automating the process once everything is uncompressed. I think I’ll transfer everything to my 2tb nvme drive first to make this going even faster.

@ivwshane doesn't mean that evert pc released since 2009 has 3 ghz, very far from it

I'm also testing the netplay functionality and i am not able to get it running. I have 2 PCs with Recalbox 18.06.27 (x86_64), both with identical settings and roms and connected to the internet.
When i start the host on the first PC and try to join from the second PC it always says:
"Failed to initialize netplay."

I tried with catsfc and snes9x (no snes9x_2010)
I scraped and hashed all my roms
And in Netplay Lobby i get the green Ok result (Rom and core match).
But still it does not work ("Failed to initialize netplay" on the PC that tries to join the host).

++UPDATE++
Problem solved! It was the UPnP-Settings in my Router. I activated UPnP and now it works 🙂

Yup but as far as reicast development has been stopped for several years already i wouldn't count on many improvements on this core anytime soon 😞

Ok I think I have it figured out but I also messed something up. I'll try to post a tutorial for how to do controls for a specific game, if there isn't one already.

In the meantime, I messed something up where with one of the games I was messing with I no longer have access to my hotkey. I also no longer have access to mames config menu (pressing tab while in a game).

The hotkey and the mame config menu all work in other games.

So what did I do and how do I fix this?

When I load the problem rom there isn't any indication that a configuration file was loaded or overridden. So how can I delete any config files that might have been created for this game?

Read the wiki, this only works with RA + network commands enabled. I have it working
