Hi, I have installed ScummVM Emulator for MacOs, in the beginning, everything was fine until a few days ago when the emulator suddenly restarted himself. Now I'm noticing that some games that I have stored in the right folder the emulator cant read or simply are not showing on the list. I have a bunch of downloaded ScummVM ROMs and some of them are ok but some of them can't be played. What should I do to reinstall the emulator and is there any other emulator for macOS for playing these retro games?
@eliaspr2309 NEOGEO is an Arcade, and Arcade has a peculiarity: you need to check the ROMSET (the "version" of the ROM). Example: MAME 2003 ROMS work with MAME 2003 core, MAME 2010 ROMS work with MAME 2010 core. The vast majority of games exist in both versions, and even other versions, but you need to have your ROMSET anyway version that the core you are using.
The NEOGEO emulator has evolved a lot and is requiring another ROMSET, as MAME, as it has more than one version, sometimes changing the core solves your problem.
Some users find it easier to download complete ROM packages from the internet, in the desired ROMSET, but it is prohibited to request or share any kind of copyrighted material on the forum, so please do not request.
About BIOS, yes, you need the correct BIOS, in the Emulationstation menu there is a BIOS checker, use it to find out which BIOS you need, and where they should be placed. BIOS is also copyrighted, so you need to do this yourself. Without BIOS neogeo will not work.
I think I was just mistaken and the emulator core is MAME 0.230, however it always just shows Mame 2003 Plus as the default core when you go to edit a games information. I'm not sure if this is intentional but that is what confused me. When I actually launch a game and hit tab and go to About Mame it shows version 0.230.
@danixu86 Hi! I think i found a workaround to make it work
if you execute " fbset -g 320 240 640 480 16 " before launching pcsx_rearmed, it doesn't crash.
To do this i changed this line on the " es_systems.cfg " file for "Sony Playstation 1":
<command>fbset -g 320 240 640 480 16 & python /usr/lib/python2.7/site-packages/configgen/emulatorlauncher.py -system %SYSTEM% -rom %ROM% -emulator %EMULATOR% -core %CORE% -ratio %RATIO% %NETPLAY%</command>
And then to "fix" the non working controller you have to disable automatic controller configuration (removing " %CONTROLLERSCONFIG% " on the previous command) and manually editing the " pcsx.cfg " file with the following:
binddev = sdl:Microsoft X-Box 360 pad
bind backspace = Fast Forward
bind escape = Enter Menu
bind e = player1 L2
bind t = player1 R2
bind \xA0 = player1 CIRCLE
bind \xA1 = player1 CROSS
bind \xA2 = player1 TRIANGLE
bind \xA3 = player1 SQUARE
bind \xA4 = player1 L1
bind \xA5 = player1 R1
bind \xA8 = player1 SELECT
bind \xA9 = player1 START
bind up = player1 UP
bind down = player1 DOWN
bind right = player1 RIGHT
bind left = player1 LEFT
bind f1 = Save State
bind f2 = Load State
bind f3 = Prev Save Slot
bind f4 = Next Save Slot
bind f5 = Toggle Frameskip
bind f6 = Take Screenshot
bind f7 = Show/Hide FPS
bind f11 = Toggle fullscreen
Then the emulator works and play games.
But i found that games that dont use 320x240 resolution get gfx corrupted. Im not sure why but even though the games i tried are working at 60fps (frameskip = 3), the sound on my gpi case has a lot of cackling (worse than the libretro core)
i hope it cant be fixed , it would be great to play psx on my gpi case.
You probably have some configuration conflict from an earlier version, I recommend that you update your gamelists (to be more agile, use external software such as Skraper or ARRM ).
In addition, in these cases it is recommended do a factory reset (option available through advanced settings since version 7.2), you will not lose any personal data, but the system will delete all customized configuration files, if there is any configuration conflicting, it will be eliminated.
