    • Scraping with existing files?

      I’ve had many recalboxes over the years and various rom collections as well. The scraping process is typically the longest process of the setup.

      When scraping, if I have a folder of previously scraped media files that may or may not include the same games as the current folder, will scrapers be able to see and then utilize those files or is there some type of association that happens when scrapers do their thing?

    • RE: RPi5 NVME boot issues

      @SWiT

      Did you figure this out yet? The only thing I can find in the documentation is that you can use an nvme as a storage device. I cannot find anything about booting to it.

      I’m just trying to install recalbox to an nvme drive because it’s faster and more reliable than an sd card or usb drive.

    • Hacking a Pandora’s box to run recalbox?

      First off let me say that I already have multiple pi’s running recalbox and this is just for fun.

      I got a free Pandora’s box, which one is hard to say but the main board has a sticker on it that says pandora 30s rrtv 32#5000.

      Anyway, the software looks like it’s running retropie and from research, it’s possibly running some android OS underneath.

      So the question is, can this board run recalbox instead? If so, does anyone have a write up or video?

      Ps mods if this isn’t the right forum can you move it to the correct forum please? Thanks

      @ivwshane

      I just tried with unzipped files and the other emulators for n64 now play the roms. While their emulation is more accurate they aren’t playable.

      @countertop

      I’m having similar issues except I’m using a pi3. The only emulator I can get working is libretro parallel.
      My speeds are decent if I set the n64 video mode in the config to CEA 1 HDMI.

      For example mk 4 is totally playable except for some missing layers (like the health and timer bar).

      I haven’t tried unzipping the rom files yet though.

    • Slow 4k performance pi4

      I’m getting slow performance on pi4 that’s hooked up to a 4k tv. I know I need to edit the config file to force it into 1080p mode but I cannot find where the line is or what I need to change it to. I tried searching the wiki (which is starting to look really good btw) but the only thing in English I could find was for odroid.

      Can someone tell me what and where I need to change the setting?

    • Delete screenshot?

      On older versions of recalbox while browsing screenshots I could go to options and delete the file, now I no longer see that option. Can they be deleted from the front end or do I now have to access the share and delete that way or from within the game I played?

    • RE: Copying files to an external disk via network?

      @scavy said in Copying files to an external disk via network?:

      @ivwshane hello
      you have to format your SSD disk in exfat format. Plug it to your Pi, load Recalbox and choose your SSD drive (give it a name) in the menu.
      RCB will reboot and create all required folders on your SSD.

      So I did that and recalbox found it with no issues but the issue remained.

      I decided to check the drive one more time and I discovered that the file system somehow duplicated itself.

      This is what my drive had on it for example:

      Share—>system name—>roms

      But it also had a roms folder as well and that looked like this:

      Share—>roms—>system name—>roms

      My files were all in the first set except for one system. After I moved the files all to share—>roms—>system name, the game list was finally updated correctly.

      I’m not sure what happened to cause the issue but it may have been caused by me originally formatting the drive without a drive letter and then after I had installed it I removed it and hooked it up back to my computer but this time I assigned a drive letter to it. I then reinstalled it in the pi and selected the newly named drive.

      Easy enough fix thankfully.

    • RE: Copying files to an external disk via network?

      @ivwshane

      It looks like it wasn't working because I didn't format it. A quick format to ext in Windows allowed recalbox to do its thing.

      However...

      I can not get the gamelists to update correctly. The roms I installed via the network show up but the roms I loaded while the disc was connected to the computer do not. What's weird is that I can see the games via the recalbox share.

      So the games are on the external disc but recalbox isn't seeing them. Using the update gamelists in UI doesn't appear to do anything.

    • Copying files to an external disk via network?

      I'll post this question here because the wiki doesn't have any info on this yet, although I'm sure I'll find the answer in a minute.

      I have a pi4 with an SD card and and external ssd drive. I'm using the nespi case which means that the ssd is connected via sata to USB.
      The drive is brand new and has never been formatted. My pi is set to anyexternal.

      Did I need to format the drive first before using it with recalbox?

      Once its connected to the pi can I access it via a network connection through Windows?

      I can already access the pi's ssd card via network share but the external drive does not show up.

      What am I missing?

    • Understanding virtual systems

      I just got reloaded and I’ve been playing around with it. One new feature I saw was virtual systems. Can anyone explain that feature to me and how it works?

      Going through the menu options it seems like I can create a virtual system like one for light gun games but I can create one using genres I choose, is this correct?

      I really like the idea if that’s what it is but I can’t figure out how to make it work.

      What I’d like to do is have a virtual system that shows all the fighting games from all the systems. When I enable that, I get some fighters but not all and I get a lot of other games.

      My games are scrapped (from prior recalbox versions).

      Thanks!

    • RE: Blank screen upon initial boot/install : choose the good hdmi port !

      Nevermind. I swear this always happens with me, I post a question and as soon as its submitted my issue goes away.

      The only thing I did was to swap HDMI ports. I don't know why that would change anything as I original booted with it in the opposite port. I also now realize that the left port is the one closest to USB C plug but when using the NES case the actual USB C plug is on the other side via a daughter board.

    • Blank screen upon initial boot/install : choose the good hdmi port !

      I have a pi4 2GB using a retroflag NES case. I downloaded and installed the latest version of recalbox using the pi imager program onto a known working micro SD card (SanDisk 32GB). The HDMI cable is plugged into the port closest to the USB C plug.

      When I turn on the pi I can hear the fan running and the power led is on but I get absolutely no activity on the screen.

      What could be the possible causes?

    • Pi 4 64bit?

      I’m not sure where to post this but I was just curious, now that pi has released a 64bit version of the pi4, how does that affect updates to recalbox (or emulation on the pi in general)? With its release there will also be a 64bit OS along with it, is porting trivial or is it like starting from scratch?

      Lastly, what is the overall plan/strategy going forward for supporting 32bit and 64bit pi’s?

      Thanks

    • Netplay help 6.1.1

      I'm trying netplay again and I feel I'm doing everything right but I have yet to be able to connect to anyone.

      I'm using 6.1.1
      No intro rom sets
      I've tried manually setting port forwarding on my router as well as using upnp.
      In the netplay lobby it will show a compatible game and give me a green checkmark along with other games that aren't compatible.

      If I try connecting to a host (samurai showdown V for example), it goes to a black screen before eventually saying failed to initialize netplay and then it loads the game.

      I've tried hosting a game and it says "you've joined as player 1". Also the nickname "nick" shows up everytime no matter when I try.

      If I go to canyouseeme.org it doesn't show the ports as open no matter how I have configured the router.

      In the recalbox netplay settings I've tried both none and new york in the mitm option.

      What am I doing wrong?

      I figured it out. The default is start + left analog button (as in pressing the stick into the controller).
