Thanks @oyyodams . That issue gave me an idea to remove to wifi dongle and for some reason it worked now. Going to keep it off in the meantime until it happens again or until the next update of Recalbox comes out.
Will test with another sd card but this one has been working for me the last 3 or four years, its class 10 and im pretty sure its not damaged, i use recalbox 7.1.1 on it and simply if i dont touch that particular setting everything works fine, but i will try a fresh install on another and report back.
I understand, but some users said exactly the same thing: the SD card didn't seem to be a problem, but testing with another SD Card the problem didn't happen again.
It may not be the case, but I believe that testing is the best way to find out.
As for the input /output i dont understand what i have to do.. do you mean replacing the hdmi cable?
I was referring to the output (I already edited the post, I said "input" wrongly...), the Rpi4 has 2 MicroHDMI ports:
But ... Testing with another microHDMI to HDMI adapter or with another HDMI cable is also useful, so it would rule out all possibilities.
Sorry im not native english speaker..
Me neither, don't worry about it.
Thank you very much for your answer. I'll try using the other microhdmi port as buying another cable is out of my possibilities right now.
I can test another sd card also.
I believe your problem is related to the LEGACY / UEFI mode, or, it is a problem with grub.
If it is LEGACY / UEFI mode (safe mode interferes directly with some BIOSes), you need to change this parameter in your BIOS.
If it is a problem in Grub, it will be changed in the next version of Recalbox: "Grub2 package fix for legacy booting (# 1484)" (See here)
@Zing Thanks for your answer. I made a check, it found an error, but it didn't change anything. So I reinstalled from scratch, it rebooted, but after I said the storage is ANYEXTERNAL, same pb.
Then I said to myself maybe it's the USB key which had a pb.
Then I scanned it and it found some corrupted sectors and repaired it, now it works again.
@Chunter Thank you for the suggestion. Just before I was going to try your suggestion, I was able to successfully boot to the main menu. It's working normally now. I'm assuming I might have a sd card that is failing so I have backed up everything. I'll be buying a new sd card and using an external usd drive for all the roms. 👍
I'm fiddeling around with recalbox for a few days now. I'm so blown away how convenient this system is, regarding it's complexity/functionality. Those guys are doing outstandig work. I'm really impressed 🙂
Yeah, you're right and I should've thought of it from the beginning; it finally occurred to me after I posted but I found out that my dual-boot laptop had other issues 😄 So to save time I'm just reburning the image while trying to diagnose the linux boot issues.
@rockaddicted sorry Sñr. Mod. Forgot the rules in my distress of a whole day lost. I'm new to open source and programming. I'm running RPi 3 B and recalbox latest (which I think is 4.0.2 if I'm not mistaken). Running Pokémon fire red .gba (latest updated version as of July). Using 2016 Microsoft keyboard to save money on the English international (it fit the keys the best). Hope that's enough to go off of. I didn't see any posts in the thread about this issue happening to others, so I posted. Tnx.
