@David_Kirk I will reply to myself then.
I have fixed this by swapping the mains powered USB HD, with a USB-powered 4Tb Toshiba portable HD. Smaller drive (physically), but now uses the USB power from the Pi. The Pi wakes it up as normal, and it works as it should.

@lorie3000 I had this happen to me It turned out it was the SSD to usb adapter I was using, the raspberry pi 4 didn't like it. I switched adapters and it worked perfectly.

Might not be your issue, but its a direction to try.

I had the exact same issue (Recalbox/Pi4/Raspad3), ended up removing the Pi4 from the Raspad3, hooked it directly to the TV using the mini(?)-Hdmi0 and everything worked perfectly. So I'm thinking the issue is the Raspad3s use of the two mini-Hdmi ports combined to form the regular Hdmi port.

      i already found the solution.
the value eDP1 was for the internal display from the notebook. i had to use HDMI1 instead.
      now everything works fine.

To set HDMI output for Recalbox External HD setup, connect your laptop to the TV using an HDMI cable. Ensure the TV is powered on and set to the correct HDMI input. Boot up your laptop with the Recalbox External HD connected. Once booted, access the Recalbox settings menu, usually found in the main menu or through hotkeys.

In the settings, navigate to the display or video options, and select HDMI as the output source. Adjust any additional display settings as needed. Save the changes and restart Recalbox. The video output should now be directed to your TV through HDMI, providing a more comfortable gaming experience.

I think there were some really strange Pi and CRT issues being reported on the Discord English support section. Prob worth joining the group and having a look back...hmm..maybe upto a week or so. 👍

@scavy said in Copying files to an external disk via network?:

      @ivwshane hello
you have to format your SSD disk in exfat format. Plug it to your Pi, load Recalbox and choose your SSD drive (give it a name) in the menu.
RCB will reboot and create all required folders on your SSD.

So I did that and recalbox found it with no issues but the issue remained.

I decided to check the drive one more time and I discovered that the file system somehow duplicated itself.

This is what my drive had on it for example:

      Share—>system name—>roms

But it also had a roms folder as well and that looked like this:

      Share—>roms—>system name—>roms

My files were all in the first set except for one system. After I moved the files all to share—>roms—>system name, the game list was finally updated correctly.

I’m not sure what happened to cause the issue but it may have been caused by me originally formatting the drive without a drive letter and then after I had installed it I removed it and hooked it up back to my computer but this time I assigned a drive letter to it. I then reinstalled it in the pi and selected the newly named drive.

      Easy enough fix thankfully.

I suggested a factory reset, available through advanced settings, not a complete reinstall.

@jerome38000 I have no way to test it, but, no other user has reported any problems like that, you are probably using a poor quality USB Disk, with low read/write speed (but I'm not sure).
Perhaps the formatting of the USB Disk can also influence.

Y have 1Tb external HDD with 3 partitions to test in parallel Batocera, Recalbox and Retropie, this 3 partitions are equally divided in NTFS format each one and identical romset in each one. First partition is labeled BSHARE (dedicated to Batocera), second partition is labeled RSHARE (dedicated to Recalbox) and third partition is labeled PSHARE (dedicated to Retropie). And three microSD cards with this 3 different systems. In the menu of each system is possible to select the corresponding partition to use by each system (but Retropie is a little more complex). So, your idea it's perfectly possible.

Ok I found the solution I post it here if anyone needs it in the future :
It's all my bad the Names where not in lowercase, and even if the uppercase does work without external datastorage it doesn't when using an USB Storage.

I have asked this question a few times

You forgot to say that at all times we already answered that it is prohibited to ask for help with this type of image:

      https://forum.recalbox.com/topic/22508/can-t-use-external-drive-for-games https://forum.recalbox.com/topic/22516/non-official-recalbox-installation/2?_=1607340348175 https://forum.recalbox.com/topic/22689/raspberry-pi-3b-recalbox-video-game-machine/2

I don't need someone to send me a link to youtube on how to create this from scratch..

It is very convenient for you to point out that you DO NOT WANT to do the only thing YOU NEED TO DO to get forum support, but ... You at least are able to understand that you are automatically denying support, so there is no need to pollute the forum with same question?

How convenient for you to point out that you DON'T WANTo do the only thing YOU NEED TO DO to get forum support, but... You are at least able to understand that you are automatically denying support, so it is unnecessary for you to pollute the forum with the same question?

Well, I already answered your questions, and, as you can read, I warned you:
@Zing said in [Non official recalbox installation]

If you don't want to be banned permanently, never suggest it again.

I'm sure I was objective enough, and I'm sure your question has already been answered, the fact that you don't want to do what is necessary, does not invalidate the answer. The fact that you do SPAM, even though you know you're wrong, and having already been warned, only reinforces the idea that it is necessary to ban you.

Obviously I will lock this topic, but I will not ban you YET, please do not SPAM by opening another topic on this same subject, I will not give you one more chance on this: if you do not install the latest official version of the system, you don't have to open a new topic, and if you do, you will be banned.

      Benzitor

@robmcc83 for HDD or SSD format it in exfat format. Then setup recalbox to use external drives, and it will setup the structure.
The advantage of this is that you can upload all rooms, bios, configs, straight from windows.
