Yep, one needs to modify its /boot/recalbox-user-config.txt by adding:

dtoverlay=vc4-kms-dsi-7inch

and /boot/cmdline.txt with:

video=DSI-1:800x480@60,rotate=180

at the end of the existing line.

I think I will create a new "case" to automate those 2 settings.

To set HDMI output for Recalbox External HD setup, connect your laptop to the TV using an HDMI cable. Ensure the TV is powered on and set to the correct HDMI input. Boot up your laptop with the Recalbox External HD connected. Once booted, access the Recalbox settings menu, usually found in the main menu or through hotkeys.

In the settings, navigate to the display or video options, and select HDMI as the output source. Adjust any additional display settings as needed. Save the changes and restart Recalbox. The video output should now be directed to your TV through HDMI, providing a more comfortable gaming experience.

@edwinsources It would be of great help if someone could share the 3 files already modified for me just to replace the files config.txt, user_confing.txt and recalbox.conf

@denishood Mettez à jour vers la dernière version et réinitialisez les paramètres d'usine (disponibles via les paramètres avancés), vous ne perdrez aucun fichier personnel, mais vous perdrez tous les paramètres personnalisés.

@legennd48 I'm not sure because I never had this problem, but, try to change it in the recalbox.conf file:

# ------------ C - Audio ------------ # ## Set the audio device (auto, hdmi, jack) audio.device=auto

Change it:
audio.device=auto
For:
audio.device=jack

As I said I tested a few settings with xrandr the other day and ran into the problems described above.

Today I wanted to proceed and started out with setting the external display settings in recalbox.conf. After reboot everything works now.

I wonder why the behavior was different when setting the same modes on my TV with xrandr.

Anyhow, works perfectly now! Now I can finally dive into some oldschool Gaming 😉

EDIT: The screen is insyalled by mounting it on the GPIO pins. (Raspberry Pi 3 Model B)
