It seems that I cannot edit my previous post, so I create new posts for my updates and additional findings:
I played around a bit and found out that the issue seems to be related to large pictures, maybe in the area of 3000x2500 px, with some being around 2500x3500 px.
On the other hand, resized to 200px height, these pictures did not crash the current version's Kodi, even when using progressive. Baseline did not crash Kodi, either.
As now, I would recommend to resize pictures to a max of 4 megapixels.
This reminds me of back in the day, using XBMC on the original XBox, which also had issues with pictures > 6 megapixels. But it did not crash and instead simply not render the pictures at all.
On kodi it's possible but somme addons not work.
On the other hand on recalbox everything is frozen impossible to add a core.
Because recalbox is a full-fledged OS, and a lot of library linux does not exist
@stoppedwumm That's going to be very difficult to achieve. Recalbox runs on a very minimal stripped-down Linux with only the very basic tools available. So you can't just install extra software with apt.
You could in theory download the source for OpenVPN and compile it yourself, but you would probably find a lot of dependencies missing.
Is it possible to install Recalbox and LibreElec as Dualboot on a PC ?
Theoretically yes, it is possible to dual boot between any 2 operating systems.
But, we do not recommend dual booting Recalbox with any other system, the ideal is to keep Recalbox separate to ensure that one system does not interfere with the other and cause any unwanted headaches.
As we don't recommend it, we don't have official documentation for this (although there are some tutorials from some users who were interested and did dual boot, which you can use as a base).
