psx not support zip/rar files, check readme.txt file in psx rom folder.

From what you are saying, the problem is the BIOS incompatibility, so if there is any solution, it is the one you mentioned yourself:

@mundodisco I don't have the knowledge to answer this question properly, but Recalbox is a LINUX-based system, so research on how to edit GRUB on Linux and try to do the same on Recalbox, the basic commands should work.
To change the GRUB image, I know that there is GRUB CUSTOMIZER, but I don't know if it is possible to install it on Recalbox, I never tried it, it may not be possible, because Recalbox abdicates many features to reduce the space used by the system.

@imjbgoode It can range from a problem with the theme songs (use the default theme and check), to a corrupted file problem during the update (in the latter case, just doing a fresh, clean installation, from scratch, of the latest official version).

do you have by chance an ATI Radeon video card? I am having the same problem, and I read that in Batocera the same issue happens. The solution (in Batocera) appears to be: "HDMI Audio is disabled by default due to a black screen issue on some monitors. To enable it, edit on the USB key both boot/grub/grub.cfg and EFI/boot/grub.cfg files by adding radeon.audio=1 at the end of the linux line".
However, in Recalbox did not work for me (or I did something wrong).

Same here, I am used to japanese/asia button mapping too
snes a / ps o = confirm
snes b / ps x = cancel

It would be nice to have a setting allowing to swap these two buttons for the fontend commands.
(as paradadf mentionned, not remapping the controller button because in game buttons will be incorrectly remapped, just swap a/b in fontend).

Look for an aptx x ll dongle. best paired with supported Bluetooth headphones.

and now it's sorted by name and works again without freezing.
