    • PC x64 version in pendrive boots in legacy boot but not in UEFI... but I can force it to start (¡?)

      Hi everyone,

I have found out that the Recalbox PC version (x64) that I have in my pendrive, boots just fine in legacy mode. But if I switched to UEFI bios, the boot starts but EmulationStation does not start.
The interesting part is that the web server is started (so I can access and monitor and change options, from another PC). AND (this is the most disconcerting part), if I go to help section and start EmulationStation, it runs just fine.
So, the question is... why EmulationStation is halting from open automatically if booted in UEFI mode (but can run manually), and it does open fine automatically if the pendrive is booted in legacy mode?
I have tried with two different pendrives, same result.
The PC is a Dell OptiPlex 790, latest bios version.

      Regards,
      Gabriel

    • RE: GRUB and boot questions

@Zing Thanks for your previous answer. With the post you suggested, I managed to delete an entry of the GRUB menu (the verbose one), and to reduce the time of waiting prior to enter in the default option.
However, there are still two things I wonder how to do it:

      1. how to prevent GRUB from appearing at all (if possible);
      2. how to load a static image while booting (before EmulationStation starts), to avoid the black screen.
Thank you very much in advance,
        GABRIEL

    • GRUB and boot questions

I have just installed Recalbox 6.1.1 (stock version, downloaded from this site: I say this because a user thought I was using an illegal image downloaded from another site, but he misunderstood) on my desktop PC. It is a Dell desktop with an old core i5 (gen 3) with an ATI Radeon HD 4350.

The problem is: on PC, loading time is longer than with Raspberry Pi 3, and "uglier": GRUB menu appears (I know how to reduce the time it waits before booting, but I am not sure how to make it not appear at all). And, it does not load an image during boot (just black screen). While the Raspberry Pi version almost instantly shows an image, and boots faster.
Does anyone know how to edit GRUB in Recalbox and/or another config file to make GRUB disappear and show images during boot?

      Regards,
      Gabriel

    • Recalbox PC, edit GRUB, load image during boot?

      Hi everyone,
I have installed Recalbox 6.1.1 on a Raspberry Pi 3b and on a Dell desktop PC, both with "Alekfull-Bello Cobalto v3 (rev1.0)" theme: they look amazing.
Recalbox on my desktop PC runs every emulator perfectly (even N64), much much better that on Raspberry Pi (the PC is an old core i5 (gen 3) with an ATI Radeon HD 4350.

The problem is: on PC, loading time is longer, and "uglier": GRUB menu appears (I know how to reduce the time it waits before booting, but I am not sure how to make it not appear at all). • RE: No Audio on hdmi only audio out jack

      Hi,
do you have by chance an ATI Radeon video card? I am having the same problem, and I read that in Batocera the same issue happens. The solution (in Batocera) appears to be: "HDMI Audio is disabled by default due to a black screen issue on some monitors. To enable it, edit on the USB key both boot/grub/grub.cfg and EFI/boot/grub.cfg files by adding radeon.audio=1 at the end of the linux line".
However, in Recalbox did not work for me (or I did something wrong).
The information I have just pasted is from:
      https://wiki.batocera.org/doku.php?id=supported_hardware

Anyone has found a solution for Recalbox PC (v6.1.1) ?

      Regards,
      Gabriel
