@linguist Does this happen with pre-installed games too?
Have you checked that your BIOS is correct?
Are you using the correct file extensions?

FIXED turning off 'service mode' on 'dip switches' from the mame menu in that screen.

@substring aucune idée, c'est un constat personnel, peut être une impression, surtout pour quitter les jeux. j'ai mes roms sur disque dur externe 2.5 pouces, peut être qu'il communique mieux? par contre pour le démarrage et extinction du système, je suis formel, chrono a l'appui!

Well, I feel a little silly, but I figured it out. The issue persists with my xbox controller, but I figured out why the ps3 controller wasn't wanting to work. I had the p1 controller set to default like the rest of them, which defaulted to the xbox controller which only worked when I replugged it in.

When I set p1 controller to the ps3 and p2 to the xbox, things are working well enough. The ps3 controller works in games, but the xbox controller still needs to be replugged (I may not use it much from now on anyway)

I had similar issue and I did a full re-install of Recalbox. I have all my games and configuration in an external WD Element HD connected to the RPI3 via USB. The good thing of this you don't need to mess about moving games and conf to the SD. All the configuration is inside the external HD. So, when reinstalling, you don't need to worry about the SD. Just reinstall and select the external HD as your preferred storage and all your roms and configuration will be there.
