@disco78 We recommend using a joystick to play in Recalbox, using it exclusively with the keyboard is not recommended.
With the Joystick, to access the Retroarch menu just press Hotkey+B (based on the SNES joystick).

You can use the Virtual Gamepad (even on smartphone), see:

      https://recalbox.gitbook.io/documentation/v/francais/tutoriels/systeme/acces/recalbox-manager-interface-web https://recalbox.gitbook.io/documentation/basic-manual/getting-started/controller-configuration

But maybe this will help you:

@chakaman69 said in How to copy from MAME to Recalbox and Hardware Compatibility:

This is what I meant to say:

I was curious as to what I need to copy over to the ROMS folder, BIOS, etc. I am trying to migrate away from MAMEUI on my cabinet. Also, I have an X-Arcade Tankstick with a Turbo Twist 2 Spinner. Are these game controllers compatible with Recalbox? I am going to use a Raspberry Pi 4B and I saw that I only have 4 ports. Am I able to use a powered USB hub with that unit?

You’ll basically put all MAME roms and BIOS (e.g. neogeo, pgm, zn1) into the mame “roms” folder on Recalbox. Don’t need to use the Recalbox bios folder - MAME is an exception here. The wiki previously linked should have this on the arcade page but I didn’t check (currently on mobile).

As far as the Tankstick, it worked great but there’s currently a bug (more or less) in recent Recalbox versions preventing it from working correctly. Search the forum for another thread with Xarcade - it contains a workaround file you can download and copy over to the system. This is expected to be fixed I in a future version and I’ve used the stick myself in the past to great effect.

(Edit: not sure about the spinner….maybe it can be mapped as an analog stick??)

Lastly, you can definitely use a USB hub but I’m not sure how well the Pi will do with 5+ USB devices… 😃

      @himew hello
      You have several possibilities :

you connect a real keyboard and mouse (for all former computers, you should get a mouse/keyboard combo, it's quite usefull. Bluetooth ones work fine). or you edit a pad to keyboard file (.p2k file) where you can assign mouse button or keys to a button on your pad.
See this doc : https://recalbox.gitbook.io/documentation/v/francais/usage-avance/pad-to-keyboard (use a translator, the english version is still in progress)

      Bonjour,

@f0xhound Sorry, I hadn't considered this, but you're right, even using another theme this image appears, so it's standard in Emulationstation.

Unfortunately I don't know an alternative for this, if you can't customize it in the theme, the only option is to scrape the games.

@marcus1966 - Turn on Recalbox, as soon as it starts you will be in the console selection menu, the "Home" of Emulationstation

Press Start to open the Main Menu Go to network settings

From here there are 2 options:

      The easier:

On your Modem, press the WPS Button (check on your modem or search the manual, it's not hard to find, but it doesn't stay in the same place on all modems) Right after that, press the "WPS CONNECTION" button in Recalbox
Wait, the connection should happen automatically (provided you didn't take too long between pressing the modem button and the Recalbox button).

For those who could not use the WPS connection:

In the "NETWORK NAME" (WIFI SSID), put the name of your Wifi network exactly as it is (ideally there are no spaces or special characters) In the "WI-FI PASSWORD", enter your WI-FI password Go to "ENABLE WI-FI" and switch to "ON"

If that's not what you want, please describe in detail what you want and why you're not getting it, it's impossible to help you if the most interested - YOU - don't bother to explain so someone can try to help you.

      Does Your Hardware Have Wi-Fi?
      What is your hardware?
What's your Recalbox version (say the version, don't say "latest")?
Did you build your Recalbox yourself, or download a ready-made image from the internet, or buy everything ready-made?

Yes, I think you are right. In the past it works fine.
But from 7.1.1 to 7.2.1 it doesn't work...
But everything has been good too: Now I know a new way to fix the problem...

Some of you might be having the same problem I had. Here's the problem and how I fixed it:

It has to do with sloppy soldering on the daughterboard, in my case. Fixed it and it works great now.

      RetrOkada

So, I was able to fix the issue, and the script is now working perfectly. Below, I will outline the steps I needed to take in the hope that it will prove helpful to anyone else who may be experiencing similar issues.

Firstly, it's worth double-checking the "Safe Shutdown" switch inside the case. In my previous post, I stated that it was set correctly; it wasn't. Turns out that I routed my cables poorly during my first assembly attempt, and this repositioned the switch, so definitely double-check that. There is, apparently, a really helpful diagram in the manual. However, for people like me who are unable to read it, there is an easy enough way to verify that the switch is set correctly. Set the case in front of you, with the SSD compartment and USB ports at the front, and the power, Ethernet etc ports at the back. Then ensure that the "Safe Shutdown" switch is positioned towards you. After I fixed my mistake, the script installed properly.

However, I then ran into another issue. The buttons on the front did invoke the script. Problem is that the system would crash before properly shutting down. The only way to break out was to pull the power cord. Luckily, a solution is offered in this Github issue:
      https://github.com/RetroFlag/retroflag-picase/issues/101

Essentially, it's necessary to ensure that you have the correct firmware installed for the top case/SSD bay, Otherwise the script won't run correctly. There are separate firmware versions for booting from a Micro SD card and booting from an SSD. You need to use the firmware which matches your boot configuration. For example, if you're booting from a Micro SD card, it's necessary to ensure that the matching firmware is installed.

It seems that the process can only be carried out on a Windows machine; for me, a Windows VM was sufficient. You'll also need to first disconnect the top case from the Nespi4, and connect it to your computer.

The firmware can be downloaded from the following page. Just scroll down and select "Firmware Download":
      http://www.retroflag.com/nespi-4-case.html

You'll end up with a zip file, which will need to be extracted. You'll then have a folder called "How_to_boot_from_SSD". Open this, followed by "Method 2 update firmware". Run the "FwUpdateTool_v1_19_16_24.exe" file, doesn't require installation. In the update tool, click the "Load File" button, and browse to the "Firmware" folder in the aforementioned directory.

This is the crucial bit, as you need to select the correct firmware according to your boot preference. If you want to boot from a Micro SD card, choose "JMS578_STD_v00.02.01.04_UAS.bin". If you want to boot from an SSD, choose "JMS578_STD_v00.02.00.09_NO_UAS.bin". Then click "Run", and wait a few seconds for the firmware to install. Click "OK", and safely remove the top case from the computer.

After connecting everything back together, the script should run without any problems. Just to be safe, I started with a fresh installation of Recalbox, and installed the script.

Of course, all of this may be thoroughly detailed in the manual; I wouldn't know.

Anyway, I hope that this is helpful to someone.

      Cheers☺️.
