Finally I have my own N64 mod called "NintendoRS" finished 
I am using a N64 case (OF COURSE from a broken one ;)) and put all the things i need in it. I am using the original On-Off and Reset parts from the case The Reset button just resets the currently played game and not the whole raspberry. Additionally I put two RGB Leds, one for the logo and the other for the status of the machine.
The cartridge is actually a fake, but recalbox does not boot if it is not plugged in (Then the two LED start to blink in red (Error)). During startup and shutdown the LEDs are changing like a rainbow, in ON-state the logo is white and the status green and in standby (when recalbox is shutdown by software, the status is orange and the logo dims up and down like a standby LED
To control the leds I am using an arduino pro mini which gets the status signals from the raspberry pi.
I still need to design the final cartridge if someone has ideas, just lwt me know

What do you mean with usb key?
@lackyluuk i mean you can map the cartridge port for USB : 4 pins need to be rewired/rerouted on the port, and you should do the same in the cartridge. Look what digi made for a NES, i guess pictures are self explanatory https://forum.recalbox.com/post/26230
@subs this looks nice. Did I understand this correctly that you have 1 cartridge for 1 game then? or what exactly do you plug into the usb port in the cart?
My first approach was to solder a microSD adapter into the N64 cart and rewire from the socket to the raspi. But I had the problems to access the SD card pins of the raspi.

We strongly recommand doing it -> /recalbox/share is moved to the USB key, so a corrupted SD card will have no effect on your roms. So the idea is to hide the usb key in a cartridge, solder what it takes to route USB lines to the pi
Okay, I did not know this. Sound very interesting. I will think about it. Due to the fact that there is no usb port left I would have to use a usb hub
