After some testing, i discovered it happens to me if i have the enhanced resolution option and integer scaling on at the same time. If i turn off integer scaling, i get full 4/3 (game ratio is "Square Pixel" in emulationstation).

Is this working as intended?

@lendário this line is wrong there is no /storage on recalbox. That's an excerpt from lakka. Better check the RA cfg file in the share_init, or retroarchcustom.cfg.origin in the folder of your files

Update managed to fix the FPS display problem.

@lendário Hum ... I'm definitely not in the shader sutff.

What I can say is that, depending on the shaders, it can be CPU intensive. That's why we recommend 720p : that's just for a performance issue.

Regarding the ratio ... That's again a different story. This all depends if you want plain square pixels, or if you want to emulate the 4:3 stretching done by TV. There is much to argue about that ... Once again, not the kind of thing that matters when I play.

Integer scale is something interesting but "looks best" on 1280x1024 as it's the resolution that is the closest to integer multiples of original resolutions without having too much black borders. When you don't use integer scale, you need bilinear filtering to avoid some graphical issues.

I'm not of much help here, i don't have the same goal when playing 😉

Regarding your first question. The only thing I recommend is to set the preferred mode of your TV. You can find a good description here:

Regarding your third question: Where did you buy the Raspberry Pi with recalbox preinstalled???
recalbox is FREE and not for sale (forbidden), so you do not have to pay for it.
Of course you can download the ROMs separate, but then you need the right games (from the correct ROM set) AND you will need all the correct BIOS files as well..otherwise they won't work
