Need help, getting a little frustrated here
-
So I've been trying to modify the d**n gamelist.xml for the psx games but everytime I make a manual change it just reverts back to what it was. Universal XML Scraper works fine but I want my game names to be specific and it doesn't help when there's multiple discs for certain games.
Even tried killing emulstation with the Universal XML Scraper program in the SSH tab, then modifying the xml list. When I reboot nothing changes.
So then I tried just renaming the bin and cue files for every game and then just using the filename option for the scraper, and now only some of them will launch for some reason.
Seriously, I don't mean to take it out on anyone here, but this is getting pretty darn frustrating at this point, like what am I supposed to do exactly, what am I missing here?
Please anyone help me, thanks.

@BlackAzrael Greetings ! (looks like you have forgotten this basic rule ...)
What you should do (if doing it manually) :
- shutdown es
/etc/init.d/S31emulationstation stop
and wait that ES did quit - edit
/recalbox/share/roms/psx/gamelist.xml
- change the value of the
name
for games you wish to rename - start ES with
/etc/init.d/S31emulationstation start
- shutdown es
-
You also can't just rename a bin file if it has an associated cue file - you need to edit the cue file contents so that it refers to whatever name you have just given to the bin file.

@RustyMG Hmm thanks for that info I was unaware, good to know!
@Substring Well I am sorry if I did not say Hi though there is no need to let me know that way.
Anyway I am not too sure where I'm supposed to type this, in cmd from the computer or elsewhere?

@Substring Alright it works that way thanks a lot to both of you! Though it's weird that in 4.1 unstable I could modify it from the share/roms folder directly without much problems. Is that a feature the devs are looking to do in 4.1 then?

@BlackAzrael the scrape makes a link between some kind of internal database (the gamelist.xml) and the files. If you change the name, you break the link and have to rescrape
