if you don't intend to contribute to recalbox in the "official way" (which means makeing packages, configgen etc ...), most of this work will be just for a few people who know linux enough to follow your tutorial. But most of the community won't benefit from it
At the moment i have no tutorial .. i just hacked some scripts and binaries together and wanted to show the current state of my "researchwork".
I have no linux skills, most of my work is based on the excellent tutorial from voljega.
All i did was replacing the uae binary against amiberry´s version and modifying two scripts from voljega.Surely, if all work is done, I would like to make a "how to" with a "ready to use" package.
But there are still so many questions left from my side ....Is there a tutorial for emustation where i can read something about the variables.
What´s "$1 $2 $3 $4" standing for?
And how to use the remapper i have noticed in emustation scripts for other emulators? At the moment i am only at a scriptkiddie level.
-
@Ratte $1 $2 stands for parametes 1 and 2 a command is execued with.
I would be interested if you could give me the additionnal .so library you added to make amiberry gui displayed.
on zippyshare, or somewhere else

@korni just curious... did you draw those or just took some images from internet?
If you did draw them, it would be better to share the vector graphics instead. And by the way, your download link will expire within 7 days, so no really a solution. -
I draw the console myself. The CD I have edited from the Recalbox Theme. The controller I have from the Internet...
If it is problematic, I can paint the controller myself.
-
@korni the best would be to have only vector graphics like every other system has on the official theme.
-
@paradadf I am working on it.
-
Does this work in raspberry pi 2? or only pi3?
-
@pillabichos I made all my tests on Pi2 so yes it works on it, should work on pi3 too
If you use it and have any problems please use the issues on the project github****

Forgot to mention in this thread that my solution is now using Amiberry and exit and gui button are configured on controller using button 3 and 4 : on ps3/4 controller this is start and R3, on xbox controller Y and X
-
Does this mean that if the "image" file is replaced with vector graphics, this is effectively good to go and can be incorporated into 4.1 beta?
Is there anything still to be done that is stopping this being "signed off" as finished? -
@RustyMG Adding an image to a theme is one thing (rather easy), adding the emulator is a much different task that won't be done for 4.1
-
@Substring
What?!
Oh man....
I moved from Retropie to Recalbox as the documentation said the C64 and Amiga were coming in v4.1.
Pity. But, I understand and appreciate that some things at first look straightforward, but the unexpected problems and issues that arise soon lead to serious delays.
Isn't the cd32 emu at least implementable though? It all seems pretty much done, and now even exits back to the menu?
Either way, keep up the good work guys - it's appreciated. -
@RustyMG C64 may be ok for the 4.1 stable, but not amiga, still too much work on this platform. See : they have been experimenting 3 different emulators and now believe amiberry is the best one. Which leads to the impossibility for us to run it on x86 or maybe even odroid. Having an arch specific emulator is not what I believe to be the best thing for recalbox. It would really sadden me (and take sooo much dev time) to have say amiberry for pi, uae4arm on odroid and fs-uae for x86 ...
And CD32 is like emulating A1200 ... it's still the same deal : have the emulator, and preconfigure it in the recalbox philosophy and scripts. To be honest, I personnaly don't have much time for now to do anything else than support.
-
Recalbox Team is sorry to have a life beside recalbox and to provide a free distribution on its free time but it seems you're feeling like you're entitled to have evrything you want whenever you want
To satisfy your urges :
CD32 isn't done on my side, and Amiberry (the emulator used behind) is currently beeing deep overhauled.
So for now we miss mostly on Amiberry's side :
- real custom controls (for now you can only map button 0-4 to gui and exit in amiberry). Also for now no way to correctly map every button to your controller. Being able to use the controller as mouse as in Hatari emulator would also be good
- use latest emulation code from WinUAE
- use SDL2 instead of SDL1 (which will allow whatever we want for custom controls)
- integration into libretro
All of this is currently being worked on by Midwan, the creator of Amiberry
If you're really impatient, you can already use the pretty well working version from my signature

on a further note about that UAE4ARm is also using DispmanX. Anyway Midwan is a pretty good guy and we could talk about that with him when he will be finished with the current work... in a year or so

@voljega. "it seems you're feeling like you're entitled to have evrything you want whenever you want"
That is insulting and really unfair - and also untrue.
I have just spent on average 4 nights a week over the last 3 months going thru huge rom collections for every system covered by Recalbox, removing all the duplicates so that there is only 1 version of each Rom (ideally the USA one) and manually removed every duplicate from the 0.78 mame folder so I only had the circa 2300 unique games.
I have also now in my own time downloaded and resized hundreds of box art so every single file has one, due to wild results that the scrapers seem to throw up when left on automatic.
If I wanted "everything now" id have just downloaded someone else's setup available online. -
@voljega uae4arm or uae4arm-rpi ? The latter does use dispmanx, i'm not sure concerning the first one
-
@Substring the latter I would say, but check the title : https://www.raspberrypi.org/forums/viewtopic.php?f=78&t=110488&sid=b3614dc430396df62833667100f8bfce&start=500

@RustyMG i didn't take it as "compile it right here right now". I just wanted to explain that amiga emulation it still quite on the move, despite me having not much free time these days. I've spent quite some time on amiga in the past months. Adding an emulator the recalbox way is hard, takes time. And although I could run the emulator on my dev pi, i just couldn't rech the point where it works like any other recalbox emulator because of the auto configuration step that we do in Recalbox.
The real problem with uae4arm has always been the configuration part (as this is definitely not documented and looks like a real mess). I don't see the point in adding an emulator that forces users to have a keyboard, adding emulators that are not maintained, or emulators whose author hardly cares about users' recommendations ...
Also, hardly any chance I add an emulator that requires SDL1 ... come on, it's 2017 now ... having SDL1 on pi is totally abnormal (and was never meant to happen).
Now I'm still keeping an eye on amiga emulation. But the main priority for now is to hunt for bugs on 4.1
