      Hello, check that the name of the bios is correct and respects upper and lower case letters. Also check that the bios are validated in the recalbox bios tab.

      Welp, I don't know how I did it, but I managed to fix the issue. it really was the recalbox-user-config.txt. I made sure to delete all my userscripts, pasted in this code in the user config: dtoverlay=gpio-fan,gpiopin=14,temp=60000 and connected my resistor wire to the corresponding GPIO pin and now it works exactly how I want.

      I started noticing the fan was actually starting and stopping while the box was on after moving everything to a new SD card. I don't think it was the card that fixed it as I copied everything in both the recalbox and share drives to the new image, overwriting everything with my configs. The only difference is I removed the bash and python scripts I was experimenting with in the userscripts folder. The user-config still had the previous line of code and actually started working.

      I still had one problem as I was still using GPIO 3 instead of 14, and the fan would stay on if I quit recalbox through the menu instead of a hard power down by holding down the button. Switching to GPIO 14 like I originally wanted and updating the code to match the pin fixed this, thankfully. Now I have a properly functioning mini fan that came with the case.

      Tl;Dr;

      If you buy a Geekpi case for Raspberry Pi 5, buy a EZ fan2 for it with some extra wires. Install the 5v and ground wires into pins 4 and 6 like the Geekpi instructions say, and add your new resistor wire to pin 8 (GPIO 14).

      654d39e7-7853-4b1a-bb9a-1af511f4bd58-image.png

      Set up your recalbox as recommended, doing the first time boot and setup so it creates the needed files.

      Open up your recalbox-user-config.txt located in the root of the RECALBOX drive either on your computer or via a network.

      Paste in dtoverlay=gpio-fan,gpiopin=14,temp=60000 in a free line.

      #Add a comment line above the code like this to write down it's the fan control code if you'd like

      reboot

      And that should work. I will experiment to see if why it didn't work for me before might have been because I wrote 55000 for the temp and that was too low or not, but I'm satisfied with 60 degrees as a trigger.

      I will also quickly mention that the EZ fan2 does fit in the rather compact case. Just tuck it under the board with the wires in an "S" shape.

      geekpi wiring.jpg

      I still think it would be nice if there could be a GPIO fan control menu in emulationstation like Raspberry Pi OS has, but I managed to work around it.

      Thanks for listening and hope this helps someone in the future.

      I found this in the backup.conf:

      emulationstation.pad0=03000000790000000600000010010000:DragonRise Inc. Generic USB Joystick

      emulationstation.pad1=03000000790000000600000010010000:DragonRise Inc. Generic USB Joystick

      Looks like recalbox gives both the same id. Maybe thats the problem. But how to change that?

      @LefternHempfield Did you have any luck with this?

      I've noticed that they work, but intermittently.. I have to restart the device, plug in and our consistently, and then sometimes and randomly, one or the other will connect. (I am using 2 controllers).

      Re @feralshadow
      It was a known bug on Pi5, devs brought a lot of modifications after the release of the experimental pi5 version. Beta-testers are on the way.

      You need to put the 8bitdo Ultimate controllers into Linux mode before they will work with Recalbox. If it's a wired version, you do that by holding down the B button when you plug it in. If it's the wireless version, I believe you hold down home and B. The instructions for switching modes are in the little manual that came in the box.

      @hobbystudent

      Tried to make it work with RetroPie and Recalbox as well. No luck with manually adding drivers. Got it working with preconfigured RetroPie 4.8 but... I needed to recompile LCD drivers as well:
      https://retropie.org.uk/forum/topic/35177/gamepi20-lcd-once-again-retropie-4-8-and-pi-zero-2-w

      Had the buttons problem also. When I pressed D-PAD the menu was skipping three positions.

      I'd prefer to make it work with 9.1 Recalbox, but things are as they are. There's no proper support from Waveshare.

      Had the same problem. I bought third party controllers and both were recognised as XBOX 360. So they didn't work via USB.

      And here's the story. One of them, when You'll press combination of START+SELECT buttons switches it's mode from XBOX to Nintendo (left and right diode changes to the second from the left). From that moment using it with USB cable was ok, the next problem was BT pairing.

      I switched the driver to automatic, entered pairing mode and had some tries with using reset button (the hole at the back of the controller), pressing P3 button at the same time, unplugging and plugging USB cable, finally making the device connected.

      The second controller from the same vendor is not working at all, USB or BT. It works with PS3 Console, but no luck with Recalbox (I'm using 9.1). My guess is that the same hardware uses different firmware inside.

      Maybe someone find this information useful and save some time and nerves trying to make work something that will not.

      @dwfmba same problem here. Gpi case 2, recalbox 9.1.

      When docked, all my controllers (usb wired and with 8bitdo dongle) works while in menu but when launching a game, it doesnt work, like the gpi case built in controller was going back as player one i guess.

      Sometimes it works but the mapping is weird.

      Hope there is a solution.

      Regards.

      Are there and News regarding the Type of Controller? I have Problems to pair the Controller. Sometimes After pairing the Buttons are still not useable. Sometimes the pairing gets lost.

      Can I help in anyway to get the Controller running? It is a very good and affordable controller and should be running.

      After pairing the controller is detected as a pro controller.

      There are no Problems if the controller is connected by cable.

      @Basti1993
      Update:
      Also occurs on another Raspi4 with a vanilla Recalbox installation. So it is a general issue.
      When i use an older Xbox Wireless Adapter (the bigger one) it works for 30 min and then the controllers disconnect. I can reproduce that behaviour. The pairing button on the Wireless Adapter also doesnt work after that (LED is on but seems to be frozen). Only a reboot solves it. USB Cable works all the time.
