PC owners can now enjoy Playstation 2 games. We're providing you with the very latest version of the PCSX2 emulator, with full support of CHD and a global compatibility of more than 98%, thanks to the hard work of PCSX2's developers.

^^ YESSSSS!!!! Playstation 2 on PC Recalbox. FINALLY! 😁

    • Request- Playstation 2 support on Pc version, please.

Humble request, can we get Playstation 2 support in the Pc version of Recalbox, please? I know other gaming O.S's like Batocera have it but, Recalbox is my favorite. I don't want to bother with anything else. And modern PS2 emulation is so good that even today's entry level comps can run PCXS2 mostly fine. So Pc Recalbox should have it too.

there is an option in the menus to hide preinstalled games.

Oh, wow. That seems to have mostly worked. Now how do i get rid of "ports"? The one with quake and such. I deleted the folder, it comes back on restart. Left the folder but, deleted the contents inside, it STILL comes back on restart. Darn.

    • How to delete games in latest build?

Ok so i just upgraded to the latest build of 64-bit Pc Recalbox. Those built-in games that come with the installation? I simply CANNOT get rid of. Even after deleting them in the file system, and being careful not to delete the actual file folders (so the system won't auto-replace them upon restart). Still, even with the folders empty, those systems STILL show up!

How do i get around this? I love Recalbox but, it's sad something such as this is not more intuitive. I shouldn't need to visit the Official forums for a tutorial on how to delete games.

    • RE: Gamecube/Wii- What is needed exactly to run?

Found another bug: Gamecube & Wii refuse to load without my gamepad plugged in. Often when adding new stuff and no intent on actually playing anything at the moment? I might not have my gamepad plugged in and just using keyboard instead to test things out. Gamecube & Will? Nope, it auto-kicks me back to the main menu as soon as i select a game. The games only run when a pad is plugged in. I think this is the only system that does that.

I'm using the 64-bit Pc version of Recalbox also. Not sure if i mentioned that earlier.

@SkullGrin hello. You don't need bios... Bios is just to have boot animation . For me Gamecube works perfectly with Recalbox x64...

Oh, i got it to work now. I didn't do anything besides update Recalbox. Which i already thought i had the latest one but, whatever. I updated when i saw the dialog box pop up.

The Gamecube and Wii games themselves however, are SLOOOW to start up and SLOOOW to exit back to the menu. When actually running the games appear to be fine but, have lots of occasional "freeze" points. Overall, a buggy experience. Hopefully that's corrected in future updates.

      My Pc uses a Ryzen 5 3400g w/Vega 11 iGPU by the way (and 16GB 2666mhz, Dual-Channel Ram).

Thanks. I tried some again, no luck. Just kicks me out back to the main menu. My Gamecube stuff has .ISO extension and Wii, has .wbfs also. My games work great using Win10 Dolphin emulator.

    • Gamecube/Wii- What is needed exactly to run?

I can emulate these systems on Win10 fine using Dolphin. But i never needed any Bios/plugins/etc to make it happen. I just needed the Dolphin Emu.

Recalbox however, seems to require a Bios of some type. I've since made like 7-8 attempts to download bios files from various sites. No luck, i can't get anything to run, and i'm stumped at the moment. Exactly what kind of Bios/plugin files do i need exactly and, where should they be placed?

      Any help would be appreciated.

@acris said in Recalbox Pc 64-bit version, games won't start with USB pad plugged in!:

      Hello
you need to use D-Input mode
      NOT X-Input mode
      Check swith button.
check mode on your gamepad, and try again.

      Wow. That worked. Thanks!

I used this pad just fine on my older 2018 Recalbox build. I guess the older Recalbox didn't care about D Vs X Input modes back then. And i had completely forgotten about that D-X slider switch.

    • RE: Recalbox Pc 64-bit version, games won't start with USB pad plugged in!

Also since i'm unable to edit my post, the USB pad i'm using is a Logitech F710. When it's plugged in? Games refuse to load. When i unplug it? Everything works and loads Perfect.

I don't think anything is wrong with the controller itself because it works great on windows 10, and it also worked great on an older 2018 version of Recalbox i used to have. So whatever, i guess i'll have to grab a different controller.

      Hello
      version recalbox ?
      gamepad ?
Edit : @SkullGrin please update to 7.1.1 and try again, plug usb gamepad after update not before.

That's what i did in my post, if that wasn't clear. I formatted my drive completely, installed the latest Recalbox, and reloaded all Roms/Bios. Fresh install of everything and latest Recalbox. Same problem. I can control the menu fine but, games absolutely REFUSE to load, when that USB pad is plugged in. Then as soon as i unplug it and try a different pad? Everything works Great.

    • Recalbox Pc 64-bit version, games won't start with USB pad plugged in!

I'm using the 64-bit Pc version of Recalbox. For some reason, when a pad a plugged in, none of the games will work. I can configure it fine and it seems to work fine in the main menu but.... none of the games play. Almost as soon as i hit the button to start the game, and screen fades to black, it pops back up to the menu saying game was unable to start. I noticed there was a new update to Recalbox, so i did a full reinstallation of both Recalbox and my Roms/Bios. SAME THING. It refuses to boot ANY games with this particular USB controller plugged in.

If i unplug it and plug in another pad and try it? Then everything suddendly works PERFECTLY. Unplug that controller and plug in the other one again? Once again, NOTHING works. WTF. Recalbox hates this controller evidently. Shame as it's a pretty decent USB pad.

      Any way to fix this?

    • RE: Installing Saturn on Recalbox 7.0.1

The Pc version of Recalbox has Saturn. Don't confuse the PC release with the Pi 4 one. Anyway, in the modern era, Sega Saturn emulation is no longer a challenge. Mednafen for example, runs it great. Hopefully it will be added to the Pi 4 when the community learns to get the most out of the Pi 4 hardware.

    • RE: PS1 Problem with sound/bios/speed. Recalbox 7.0.1 GPI

@Benzitor Are you using PSOne Bios from an older Recalbox build? I had a similiar problem where i moved all my stuff from an old 2018 Pi 3 Recalbox build, and went to the Pc Version of Recalbox. I had to ditch my older Bios and redownload new ones. When i replaced the Bios, that worked. So the New Recalbox might not like the old PSOne bios you were using.

    • RE: Buy a Pi4 or Not??

4GB and especially 8Gb seems like overkill. Has anything on Recalbox EVER needed that kind of Ram? Highest i'd go on a Pi would be 4GB. 8GB and up should be reserved for the Next generation.

@Pitch64 said in How to get Gamecube, Wii, and PS2 on 64-bit Recalbox?:

There is no PS2 on recalbox.

Darn. Well it Needs to be added for Pc version! Just like Sega Saturn, Playstation 2 emulation is no longer a challenge anymore. Modern entry level computers can run PS2 games fine.

Also what about Gamecube and Wii? Like i said i downloaded and tried several bios but, no luck. What exactly do i need to get those running?

D**ned , already bought one and had the same unlucky experience. I thought it’s based on Raspberry Pie 4 (00) and would work. 😒

Even though the improvement is minor, a +300mhz speed increase, it's probably still a DIFFERENT processor. And Recalbox will probably need to be programmed specifically to run on it. Give it time and leave the Pi 400 in the box till that faithful day arrives.

    • How to get Gamecube, Wii, and PS2 on 64-bit Recalbox?

Running the 64-bit Pc version of Recalbox, which has been great. I see there are rom folders for Gamecube and Wii but, i can't get them to run for anything. I searched around for Bios and tried some, no luck. Thing is, i can play gamecube & wii in windows 10 using Dolphin emulator, and it never once required a Bios files for me to run. Is that different for Recalbox?

Also is Playstation 2 available on Pc recalbox, or some way to add it? My Pc is plenty powerful enough to play PS2 at full-speed using PCSX2 also. But Recalbox is my favorite gaming O.S and it would be awesome if i could have it all running inside of Recalbox instead with everything else.

    • RE: Installing Older Final Burn on New Recalbox version?

Finished! Ok so the damage wasn't nearly as bad as i thought. Out of 700'ish games between Mame and Final Burn sections, 48 didn't work. And then there was a lot of strange name altering and missing images that made it look a lot worse.

No special fixes. I just bite the bullet and put in the effort to fix everything. Besides redownloading stuff, i also moved some things from Final Burn to Mame section. Due to mame having multiple emulator versions (Mame 2003, 2010, etc) for increased compatibility. Final Burn Neo only had the (1) emu running, and no selectable alternatives.

As for all the naming problems and image issues, i just manually went into the gameslist.XML and what not, and fixed it by hand. It was all a huge pain in the butt since everything works/looks fine on my Pi3 build, and all my files were just a copy & paste of that. Whatever, i just put in the work.

Other than that, the 64-bit Pc version of Recalbox is running nicely. Only other issue is, for systems that require a bios? When selecting a game a warning ALWAYS pops up, saying i don't have the bios required, and asking me if i want to continue. Even though the games load Perfectly everytime. Seems to do this for all systems that require a bios of any kind. I have all my bios in the proper spot, which is why my games load fine.
