Hi folks! First post, great release. Nice to finally get RCB on my Pi3B+. πŸ™‚

Having an odd issue at the moment and it is confusing me. I have installed Recalbox 6.0 afresh on a 64GB SD card that I know is working fine. I have all my stuff pre-scraped to put back on the card once installed. So far so good. I should probably state I am using Linux to do all this - Manjaro KDE - in case this is useful.

I'm still in the process of manually tailoring my MAME set (2003), although I'm pretty much good to go now barring one or two games I'm tweaking and adding as I go.

However, I notice that after playing on Recalbox for a short while, when I put the SD card back in my PC, the gamelist of the system I've just been playing opens up with errors. This is using Kate on KDE. There's a screenshot here. I should add that my backups do not display this error. It only shows after playing any system on Recalbox 6.0 and then placing the card back into the PC for examination.

Luckily I have everything backed up as I go, so no real harm done. I can replace the gamelist and try again. I've tried it several times now and always the same result. At first I thought it may be the Retroflag shutdown script, but it still happens if I use the inbuilt shutdown from the menu.

I guess what I am asking is - is this usual/expected behaviour? Is it causing corruption somewhere or is it some other error I don't understand? I have used Recalbox on another Pi (the previous stable release on my Pi3) and never experienced this behaviour before. Your advice and help very much appreciated. Many thanks. πŸ™‚

Maybe you should post your gamelist.xml before and after.
Having lines longer than 4096 chars is pretty usual, as game synopsis in metadata may be longer.

Thanks for responding. πŸ™‚ If you can recommend a tool that would be no problem. I tried Pastebin but the files are too large (1.4MB).

Sorry for late reply, and thanks again for your help. I'm not up on decent file uploaders, but this one looked OK. I've uploaded the gamelists for you to peruse. πŸ™‚ Let me know what you think.

MAME - this is the gamelist before I use Recalbox

MAME - this is the same gamelist after playing

I've used MAME here as the example, but it's the same with any emulator/system/gamelist.

@lumpy I can't identify any problem in your gamelist, in your screenshot the error that appears is what has already been said "Having lines longer than 4096 chars is pretty usual, the game synopsis in metadata may be longer.", Just that.
In Windows, opening your file with "notepad ++", I don't get this error, and it is the program that I use when I want to edit something manually in the gamelist.
Are you doing all the scrappe manually? I recommend using an external Scrapper, it is much more practical:

Thanks for replying. That's fine as long as there's nothing to worry about. It just struck me as odd that there'd be this error after playing when opening the gamelist. Like I say I didn't see it on the last release and thought it worth mentioning, but if you're saying it's all good, that's good enough for me. πŸ™‚

FWIW the scraping for this particular system was done some time ago via Skraper and I'd been manually editing it to trim the collection down to something more suited to the Pi. I thought it was my error at first but noticed the same thing on other systems I wasn't manually editing.

Anyway not to worry, thanks again.
