@Substring yep, the rk3288 supports OpenGL ES1.1/2.0/3.0 and OpenCL 1.1

@lackyluuk i must admit i'd really love to port recalbox to it. This board has (at least) the power of a C2 (which is much more powerful than a Pi 3) without the flaws of the C2 (the C2 is 64bits, no real way for now to execute 32bits code on it for now whereas the tinker board is 32bits, the kernel of the RK3288 is much newer than the okd 3.14 one on the c2 and ... I think the mali GPU is OpenGL, not just EGL or GLES).
So yes, this board IS promising from a recalbox point of view. I'm just waiting to see some technical specs (how to boot ? U-boot or something else ? Specific drivers ? mali drivers which are not open source should be ok)
Do itttt! This is gonna be an amazing piece of hardware for emulation.
-
@HBogard The board is not really available, and we'd appreciate a little help from Asus. We can't afford ourselves any board that is released
-
@Substring do a call on the forum for donations to buy two or three boards ?
-
@voljega we have more important matters to handle for now
Anyway, no need to port recalbox to it as lng as it's not available for sale. Asus should release some "tech kits" by the end of the month, wait & see ^^ -
@Substring already any news from asus?
-
@Substring Asus is selling in switzerland. I could get one (the deal lackyluuk mentioned), did receive it today and installed the tinkerOS.
Couldn't get EmulationStation to run. Kodi runs fine with 16.1.I would love to see recalbox on it:-)
-
@peterpan123123 what shop ?
-
@lackyluuk it has a Mali T760 i think, so this is the real gpu that does the job
No newsn from asus yet
-
-
@peterpan123123 haven't found any reseller in France yet. Anyway the board looks very close yo the Firefly, which is already supported in Buildroot (except maybe the GPU). Porting to the tinker shouldn't be too complicated i think, but better wait for Asus tech kits.
Dunno what tinker os relies on, but you'd need to compile ES from scratch. And the recalbox ES might not be the easiest to compile, although digi and rockaddicted do test first on their Ubuntu before cross compiling for Recalbox. But they know the trick
-
@Substring any news from asus regarding the tinker board?
-
@lackyluuk Just google asus tinker board, nothing happened since mid febdruary ... So i think it looks like an epic fail from Asus for now
-
@Substring pff..shame on asus
Would you try to port anyway if we could get one or does nit not make sense due to the poor availability? -
@lackyluuk I already hardly have any time to spend on recalbox these days. Porting to a new arch takes a big amount of time + seeing asus can't finalize its product ... why should I bother now ? We asked Asus for some samples, we'll see once they reply
-
@lackyluuk seems a bit early as the thing could well be plugged totally out of market
-
@Substring @voljega yeah, your probably right. Its possible that asus produces here an already dying platform...the do not seem to care about
-
@lackyluuk yeah it looks like there was a serious hardware fail on their part and they pulled out the model or something...
-
it's been withdrawn from sale, but i thought it was due to a problem with tinkerOS, not the hardware itself
-
@Substring Have one since beginning and had no problem at all. The performance is outstanding. Asus is developing (actual TinkerOS is v1.6 (started with v1.3)).
Still looking forward to run recalbox on a tinkerOS;-)
