Solved Raspberry pi 3 B (not +) Enough performances ?
-
@snipo you‘ll be able to play practically all 8 bits consoles, most 16 bits and some 32 bits.
-
@paradadf Thx for you answer !

3B and 3B+ have same performance , it's actually the most powerfull RPi system supported by recalbox.
I have both 3B ans 3 B+ i never noticed difference (except maybe for N64, PSP, DC but 3B+ is not enough powerfull for these systems) -

3B and 3B+ have same performance
For many arcade games (with both mame & fbneo), the difference between 1.2Ghz & 1.4Ghz is the difference between running full speed or not. Needless to say the additional 200Mhz also helps with some optional features (readahead is a good example)

@barbudreadmon
yes you're right, but the advantage of 3B+ concern so few games on FBA or Mame. If @Snipo have interest of Arcade games he can invest on a 3B+ , but if don't have he can stay on his 3B. Many FBA/Mame games have also slowdowns on 3B+. -

Sure, those emulators were written for desktop computer in the first place, so cheap SBCs being unable to run all the supported games is to be expected. It all sums up to what @Snipo wants to play. Some indicator : i think the street fighter 3 games don't run full speed anymore on 3B (because we fixed some rendering issues on cps3 last year), while they do on 3B+

@barbudreadmon
If you have exemple of games running correctly in 3B+ but not on 3B i am interested.For example I tried today
Street fighter III third strike : Run at full speed on 3B and 3B+ with FB NEO.I also tried Dungeon Magic with FB NEO
Run at full speed on 3B and 3B+
So, I don't have exemple of arcade's games running well on 3b+ but not on 3b -
@airdream I can confirm at least one of the sfiii doesn't run full speed on pi3, even if only sound is impacted
-
@airdream Since last year, on retropie forum, i got many reports about the street fighter 3 games now having slowdowns on 3B, especially sfiii2 with widescreen mode enabled.
@airdream said in Raspberry pi 3 B (not +) Enough performances ?:

Run at full speed on 3B and 3B+I'm totally dumbfounded there, afaik taito F3 games never ran at full speed on any pi3 model, with both fbalpha/fbneo & old mame cores. Are you sure about your statement ?

Sorry, i was wrog with Dungeon Magic, it's NOT full speed with 3b and 3B+ (too slow for playing)
For SFIII, i just tried Third Impact on FBNeo, and it ran fullspeed with 3B @ 1200 Mz and 3B+ @ 1400 Mz

There is no sfiii with this name, do you mean Second Impact ? Just making this clear, the reports were about the games having slowdowns (going down to 56-57 fps on some special moves), which means it will run full speed between those slowdowns. Also, what about the widescreen mode (togglable through cabinet service menu) ?

Sorry again, I spoke about SFIII third strike.
Thank you for theses explanations, I was not aware about it.
I will try again third strike with FPS counter on screen later
