FinalBurn Alpha vs FinalBurn Alpha 2x
-
what is the difference FinalBurn Alpha vs FinalBurn Alpha 2x ?
-
@bigbutler fbalpha, currently being accessed over fba_libretro’s folder is the up-to-date Fire Burned Alpha emulator. pifba (accessed fro the fba folder) is an outdated but heavily optimized version of fbalpha for the raspberry pi. It is particularly useful for the rpi0 or rpi1.

I'm not sure, nowaday the libretro port has cyclone (the m68k dynarec for arm which is the main selling point of pifba) and frameskip core options.

Hello. Is there a link in FBA site where I can find more informatiin about 0.2.97.44?
The last entry in the main site fbalpha.com is from december of 2018 and april of 2018 but for 0.2.97.43. Thanks.
-
@barbudreadmon it needs special flags when compiled, right? I would test it but I don’t have a pi0 to compare performance between both. Although I would love to remove pifba completly if fbalpha is good enough on those boards. Maybe I’ll share a binary for someone to test it.

@jorgemagana 0.2.97.44 are nightlies, there are no official releases yet, and maybe there won't.
@paradadf it needs to be built with the
USE_CYCLONE=1
flag, actually i think it's enabled in the linux arm nightlies on the libretro buildbot. -
@barbudreadmon I just found
https://retropie.org.uk/forum/topic/20000/lr-fbalpha-now-fast-on-pizero-rpi1/
and
https://forum.recalbox.com/topic/15807/cyclone-désormais-dans-fbalpha-libretro-adieu-pifbaI’ll build it soon for weider testing. Thanks for letting me know about this.
-
@paradadf i expect recalbox to be faster than retropie, and using the frameskip core option might also help.
-
@barbudreadmon ok thanks

ONLY FOR RPI0/1 VERSIONS OF RECALBOX
Here is the binary for testing performance differences between fba and fba_libretro:http://s000.tinyupload.com/index.php?file_id=01516935153730933111
(Re-)place the file inside
usr/lib/libretro
Don't forget to make the partition rw before trying to copy it over:
mount -o remount,rw /
And share your results, please!
