RE: Model 3 not working cause of 2 Arcade Sticks !!!
I would like to mention in addition:
If I use the Single USB Encoder from EG-Starts at P2...and in addition the Twin USB Encoder from SJ@JX at P1, then the Roms run...
Is this related to the addressing and that Sega Model 3 may not be able to handle two of the same USB encoders ? -
Model 3 not working cause of 2 Arcade Sticks !!!
Topic: SEGA MODEL 3 on PC setup...and the cause (I'm really going crazy !!!):
First I tried to get the Sega Model 3 roms to run on a Mini PC with an i5 4590T. This all failed even after weeks (real romset meanwhile at the start) !!!
My thought then was: Only with a new, better mini pc they will run. So i bought a mini pc with an i5 6500T.
AND: They run...until I finally found the problem now.I think: IT'S THE DRAGONRISE USB CONTROLLER from an EG-Starts Set !
If I have both connected (P1 and P2), the games do not start (error message cause of missingf BIOS etc.).
If only one is connected (P1) and the other (P2) is disconnected from the USB port of the computer, the games start perfectly...even on the computer that I had previously in the system. Then I tried using to control the games with an X-Box One controller and that works fine too.
Then I tested a TWIN-USB (SJ@JX 2 Player LED Arcade USB Encoder) encoder (both sticks and buttons connected on a single board). Same thing here too: If only one stick and buttons are connected on the board, then the roms run, if both sticks are connected, the games do not start).
What the hell is the reason for that
For a solution I would be superthankful...on gladly with instruction, if I must change a config or something similar.

Sega Model 3 and all games won't start
Hi there,
It's been my turn for weeks now and I just can't get the Sega Model 3 Roms to run.
No matter which ROM you get the following error message:
I have a mini pc setup with an i5-4590T and 8GB ram. OpenGL 2.1 support is therefore given (this Intel goes up to OpenGL 4.3).The PC is connected via DPI to the HDMI input of the monitor, but that shouldn't matter.
I made my own romset with CLRMAMEPRO based on mameset 0.235. Scanning the set in clrmamepro didn't show any errors. Still, no rom works.
I also got a ROM from a friend to test, which should run 100% because it runs on his mini-PC and his Recalboxsetup.
I am now slowly despairing and wondering what else could be the problem.
Can someone please help with this and tell me which config file I could change or where the error could come from in general?

CRT Monitor Commodore 1084S-P1 with Mini PC ?
Hiho,
does anybody know how to connect an old CRT Monitor (in my case a Commodore 1084S-P1) to my Mini PC via VGA or Displayport ? I have a 15 Pin VGA (PC OUT) to 9-PIN VGA (Monitor IN) Cable but i only get this:
Do I still need any digital to analog converter or do I have to adjust the resolution in Recalbox.config or what can i do ?
Thank you for your help !!!

RE: Bootvideos don`t play since Pulstar / Les bootvideos ne jouent plus depuis Pulstar
Yes of yourse
I can't tell you why the controllers behave like that either. I did some research on this but didn't find anything really useful. I'm thinking about switching to a different USB encoder anyway (2 player board). But for now I'm happy and it works...both on the RPI4 and on my new Mini PC. As I said, thank you very much for your great help !

RE: Bootvideos don`t play since Pulstar / Les bootvideos ne jouent plus depuis Pulstar
Yes perfect... THANK YOU SO MUCH !!!
I think all the searching was worth it because there will certainly be some players who use these controllers and now you know what can go wrong when bootingP.S.: Maybe it would be cool to have a setting within the Recalbox that would allow you to enable or disable the ability to skip the video

RE: Bootvideos don`t play since Pulstar / Les bootvideos ne jouent plus depuis Pulstar
What can I say ? I set the write permissions with Putty, then edited the file with the "#" in front of the line with WinSCP and saved it... what happens:
I HAVE MY VIDEOS BACK
Thank you very much Pooadum!!! You are the best !!! ...and I got into programming a bitP.S.: I hope the write permissions are automatically deactivated again after the restart....

@poppadum said in Bootvideos don`t play since Pulstar / Les bootvideos ne jouent plus depuis Pulstar:
@Sesto2k If you wait for Recalbox to fully boot, then connect via ssh and run
/etc/init.d/S06splash start
do you see a boot video then?Tested this..but no video ;-(

RE: Bootvideos don`t play since Pulstar / Les bootvideos ne jouent plus depuis Pulstar
If the Turbo Fire function was on, I have now disabled it. I simply connected the two contacts of the clear switch with a piece of metal and then pressed an action button. But: Still no boot videos
I honestly have to admit to the MPV story that I don't know what to change, delete or do anything else. Unfortunately, I'm not a programmer and that goes really deep into the matter.

RE: Bootvideos don`t play since Pulstar / Les bootvideos ne jouent plus depuis Pulstar
Thank you all for your help
Finally i found the issue by testing Recalbox with a Mini PC instead of the RPI4.
It first booted without any videos, too.
Then I went according to the exclusion principle because the video was suddenly played after only the USB stick with the Recalbox image was connected to the mini PC
Then i connected everything back to the RPI4. No Video...The solution so far:
If everything is connected except the both Dragonrise USB Encodern then the bootvideo plays...on pc and RPI4.
The problem is caused by the encoders !!!As far as I know, boot videos can be skipped with 9.0. Can it be that some function is activated by default with this encoder type so that the boot video is thereby skipped?
What can i do now...i have no idea but good to know who is responsible for the problem....

RE: Bootvideos don`t play since Pulstar / Les bootvideos ne jouent plus depuis Pulstar
I tested another Monitor (Dell)...same behaviour:
You can see, that the Monitor turns on with it`s "grey" instead of pure black screen but no video appears...then the visible bootscreen follows and the system starts. After that everything is normal like in 8.1.1. -
RE: Bootvideos don`t play since Pulstar / Les bootvideos ne jouent plus depuis Pulstar
I would have to buy a new mini HDMI cable. Basically mine works though. I can try to connect another monitor, yes... just have to get one from the basement right away xD.
Give me a little time...my son has to go to bed first

RE: Bootvideos don`t play since Pulstar / Les bootvideos ne jouent plus depuis Pulstar
My Setup:
- RPI4 Model B 4GB (with fresh eeprom update from yesterday)
- 1 TB Samsung SSD for Share
- 1 Acer KC242Y Full-HD Monitor (1080p, 16:9) connected via HDMI (Port next to the Ppower connection)
- 2x EG Starts EG STARTS Zero Delay USB-Encoder + 2 Sticks and 16 Buttons
- Audio: Fosi Ausio BT30D Amplifier (connected to Analog Output)
- Bluetooth Mouse and Keyboard
- X-Box One Controller via Bluetooth
What i did first: Only an update from 8.1.1 to 9.0. After that: No bootvideo (own and built-in).
Then i checked everything:
recalbox-config and every file which could cause the issue here:
Then I took off the SSD and tried just going through the SD...again, no boot video.
Then I did a fresh installation on the SD Card (with 9.0 image) and started first without SSD. Not even the Recalbox videos are played (I've booted several times and of course checked the config. here beforehand).
Then I reconnected the SSD and I now have my system as it was. However, still without boot videos. -
RE: Bootvideos don`t play since Pulstar / Les bootvideos ne jouent plus depuis Pulstar
Finally, here in /recalbox/scripts/recalbox-part.sh i don`t know if everything is ok.
Enfin, ici dans /recalbox/scripts/recalbox-part.sh je ne sais pas si tout va bien.

RE: Bootvideos don`t play since Pulstar / Les bootvideos ne jouent plus depuis Pulstar
@Sesto2k said in Bootvideos don`t play since Pulstar / Les bootvideos ne jouent plus depuis Pulstar:
The script /etc/init.d/S30waitsplash can also stop boot videos. It seems to check the setting system.splash.length in /boot/recalbox-backup.conf; if set to 0 it kills the boot video immediately.
Everything OK
Tout va bien
