    • Virtual Keyboard

      I'd love to add a new feature to the recalbox manager (webserver). It's supposed to be similar to the virtual game pad. I'd like to have a virtual keyboard. As recalbox requires a keyboard from time to time and I don't want to place my keyboard next to my recalbox it would be great if I could just take my smartphone, open the manager and type a few letters.

      How about including Skyscraper. It's written for linux and combines many game DBs/websites.

      @Zing, I wan't mainly arguing but asking, what else I could do. Well, finally I found skyscraper that did the job for me.

      Check out SuperRepo. It is a repository containing a huge load of add-ons for Kodi. Also a few netflix add-ons. Check this link on how to install it and use it. Again: you need to speak English (or Dutch)...

      Ja ok. Ich denke, ich könnte mich hier auch mal vorstellen.

      Ich bin ein Informatik-Student und semiprofessioneller Musiker aus Deutschland.

      Wie ich zu Recalbox gekommen bin: Wir (WG) hatten erst Lakka (retroarch als OS) auf dem Pi. Das war schon ganz nice, hätte aber hier und da smoother sein können. Also haben wir weiter gesucht und sind auf Retropi gestoßen. Das war für mich gleich raus, als die lustigen ASCII Dialoge aufgegangen sind. Ihh bäh. Also wollten wir zurück auf Lakka wechseln. Da habe ich plötzlich beim Googlen Recalbox[1] gefunden. Also mal ausprobieren, dachten wir. Der Pi musste je eh platt gemacht werden. Und heiliger. Was eine UX. "Just works"-Software. Habe mich sofort verliebt. Endgeil.

      Warum Retrogaming? Oft, so finde ich, trifft auf Retrogames zu, dass sie sich, da sie mit schlechterer Grafik und weniger Rechenwumms auskommen müssen, mehr auf die wichtigen Dinge wie Charaktere, Gameplay, Storytelling etc. konzentrieren.

      Was kann ich?
      Ich bin top in Python und WebDev (JS, CSS, HTML). Von C/C++ und (Sys-)Adminkram bin ich weniger begeistert. Ich werde versuchen meine Fähigkeiten in dieses Projekt einzubringen, da meine Zeit hier gut aufgehoben ist, wie ich finde.       So viel zu mir. Ich bin sehr gespannt, wohin sich dieses jetzt schon mega geile Projekt entwickeln wird.

      Right now I try to contact miroof (Jérémy Hervy) the creator of virtual keyboard. I'd like to know if I have to

      • start from scratch or
      • can build a new repo on the basis of his code or even
      • can add that feature to his repo

    • Wiki is hard to navigate

      Hi,

      I just translated a few sentences in the wiki. I had to notice that it's quite hard to find a translated version of a specific page. Here is an of example what happened to me: I translated a whole page from EN to DE. I wanted to replace the links with DE pages (if existing). But I missed the existence of one page and started to translate it (even though a translation already existed).

      If you look a Wikipedia there is a link list in the side bar linking all translated versions of the page you're viewing. I think something like that would be a great feature for such a huge multi-language wiki as recalbox has. Maybe an external wiki could help as the GitHub wiki does not seem to have built-in option for that.

      Just an idea.

      Why is this marked as solved? This really sucks (no offense to the devs) and it should be fixed or an alternative should be proposed. Or is there really NOTHING that can be done about this?

      Hi, I'd like to adjust share/system/.kodi/userdata/recalbox.xml to my needs. This file defines the game pad button mapping to Kodi controls. I have 2 questions:

      1. Will it be overwritten by recalbox?
      2. How to find out the IDs of the controller buttons?

      Ok. I made it work now completely (including start and select buttons) by setting global.inputdriver=sdl2 in the config. Thus, this thread can be closed.

      Finally!

      By manually updating /etc/udev/rules.d/99-joysticks-exotics.rules to https://raw.githubusercontent.com/recalbox/recalbox-buildroot/master/board/recalbox/fsoverlay/etc/udev/rules.d/99-joysticks-exotics.rules I could make it work!

      EDIT 1: The only thing that still does not work is the hotkey. I bindend select to be the hotkey (because HOME+SOME BUTTONS have a controller internal binding). Any ideas what could be the problem here?

      EDIT 2: I just noticed that the start button of the controller also does not work.

      Update: I can make it work using the controller in keyboard mode. But

      • I don't want to change the keyboard bindings (just in case I mess up things I'd like to be able to fallback to a keyboard).
      • The hotkey does not work inside the SNES-Emulator.

      Strange: The controller does only reconnect if starting it in pairing mode (i.e. HOME+A) but not on normal power up (i.e. only HOME).

      Thanks for the hint. The gamepad is already in gamepad mode. But how do I enter the config menu when I disconnect the keyboard? I can disconnect it on the screen that tells me to long press any button on my gamepad. But still the gamepad isn't recognized. Interestingly the home button and the media control buttons on the gamepad (if long pressed) trigger the keyboard config to pop up...
