    • Recalbox 4.1 stable release - RESPECT !

      I just remember end of last summer, some echos in the background, "project is dead" "nobody work on it anymore" and so on.
      The team was always saying that the stable release would only take place after error free test phase.
      And I just see, and for +15 years leading a software team, that this version is mostly perfect. What is more than normal and often payed people on a project wont not reach this perfection.

      Finally, after weeks, I have a running version of Windows95 with 800x600 and 256 colors (for the moment).
      First step, still a lot to test and to learn.

      And on the PI3, on highest resolution (800x600) with acceptable speed. It was just a syntax error in my installation files. It is minimum as quick as on my old PC from this years.
      I also changed in dosbox.cfg memsize to 63 instead of the default 16 what after my impression has a positive influence.
      My dosbox.bat is this

      @echo off
      :menu
      cls
      echo.
      echo.
      echo.
      echo.
      echo.
      echo DUKE NUKEM 3D
      echo.
      echo 1 = Play Game
      echo 2 = Setup
      echo.
      echo 3 = Quit
      echo.
      choice /n /c:123 Make a selection:
      if errorlevel ==3 goto leave
      if errorlevel ==2 goto setup
      if errorlevel ==1 goto play
      goto end

      :play
      DUKE3D.EXE
      goto menu

      :setup
      SETUP.EXE
      goto menu

    • RE: How do I scrape DOS games?

      @Thraka
      I have more Dosbox games installed as other so. He find alot of the games if you start from the right database on the web. THEGAMESDB is a good choice in the ES menu.
      From this on, I scrap all games individually. So, Hotkey + Select when you stand over the game name in ES. This brings you up modifications for the meta datas. On the second screen down, you can scrap. If he dont find, because name not for him understandable, Enter something more, or just some keywords more explicit.
      In general after some try, he find most of names. You can anyway control in your browser their website if some scrape exist. Most games are there.
      If he dont find, try other database or enter it by hand into gamelist.xml and join a picture to the image folder.
      Some explications how to build by yourself, you find here

      Bon, c'est trĂšs simple et tout le monde pourra tester les avantages. Ce que je n'avais pas vu, zram existe au niveau de recalbox.
      Alors il faut juste aller ici
      https://gist.github.com/sultanqasim/79799883c6b81c710e36a38008dfa374
      et copier le script.
      Je l'ai sauvegardé sous "S01zram" et ajouté en /etc/init.d/ Bon S01 est le début des scripts, mais il ne semble violer nulle autre exécution et se termine sans erreur,
      le Pi3 et recalbox bootent normalement. Alors il faut trouver encore ou cela a vraiement des avantages et comment faire avec le swap.

      @Giuseppe-Morra
      I can just tell you, as I own a Freeplay GBA CM3, that it should work. Because the driver from the build in display over the LCD Interface seems not to relate to the hdmi interface. Now, I dont know what your driver is. I used the hdmi-->vga with monitor during test of my lcd driver. I swapped from waveshare driver to a very quick fbcp-ili9341driver for the lcd and survey everything on the monitor. The CM3 is vegetarian brother from PI3. So it should also work with you.

    • Freeplay CM3 GBA clone Kit.

      Freeplay kickstarter project to integrate the Pi0 or the CM3 (PI3 naked, but idem 4x1200Mhz cores) in one of the cheap GBA spare shells from China.

      alt text

      The Raspberry CM3 is the follower of the CM1 based himself on the PI1.
      There are 2 versions, standard and Lite. Here we need Lite because no memory onboard, but provided by external sd card reader. The form factor is based on Dimm memory modules, and the size about a few mm identical to the PI0.

      alt text

      Today arrived my Freeplay CM3 kit, and like Ed was indicating a value of 24$, no import and no TVA to pay. 😄
      Everything comes in a solid cardbox, with a plastic postbag around.

      alt text

      Inside you find first a triangular screwdriver for the GBA shell, but very often they are also delivered with the spare shells.
      The advantage to not need a printed Shell has on the other side the disadvantage that there are a lot of small parts to cut away on the shells, I prefer milling.

      alt text

      The most difficult part should be 2 more holes outside for the additional X & Y buttons, missing on the original Game Box Advance.
      You have in the kit (you see it), a piece of printed board as template for the new holes. And also 2 grey caps for this buttons.
      Then, 2x 1000mAh batteries 3,7V.
      The waveshare 3,2" tft screen, and last but not least the Raspberry CM3, that you dont see, because it is inserted on the back from the main board. But it is delivered all together.
      Upper you see spare cover glass for the GBA Shell and is real glass compared to the original GBA and the China display covers. Just to scratch with diamonds. 😉
      Concerning the main board, you see a small board from another color with some additional chips. This is an option and brightness controller for the backlight. It will allow to save some battery power, I think.

      For the moment, I wait for shells. A pure black will arrive rather quick, I will use it for training. I want to put it later in a black-transparent shell, but this are sold out in Europe, so they will come little later from China.

    • Turrican II under Dosbox

      So, I have it working but some datas are weird concerning installation.
      It was the only Turrican under DOS. (1995).

      First there is a subdirectory /cfg in the files with inside English.lng and Turrican.cfg.
      You must copy /cfg/English.cfg to the root, without setup is impossible.
      Second, create an empty file Turrican.cfg in the root.
      When the game is started, he will enter everytime with display of Setup.
      One of the weird thing, you must just know it.
      In Dosbox.bat you must set an environnement variable before you call the game :

      SET T2DIR=.
      T2.EXE

      I have still an unresolved problem, no scrap file.
      Even as you have in thegamesdb.net a plain list of, but with no dos variant.
      But the same game exist, just under amiga : Turrican II : The final fight
      Is there a way to scrap Amiga descriptions (as example) under Dosbox ?

      Something else that I found out about this tiny waveshare displays, there are too much parameters in the description 🙂
      If you just limit to the 3 not out commented, you have lcd screen + hdmi output all together, It seems to me that somebody was already asking this.

      #Waveshare 3.2 TFT Screen
      #same resolution for hdmi and tft
      #hdmi_force_hotplug=1
      #hdmi_group=2
      #hdmi_mode=1
      #hdmi_mode=87
      hdmi_cvt=320 240 60 1 0 0 0
      dtparam=spi=on
      dtoverlay=waveshare32b:rotate=270,speed=82000000,fps=60

    • Dos : Captain Dynamo Trainer

      Comme cet jeu est d'un cÎté interessant, mais de l'autre extrÚmement difficile avec 2 vies et pas de sauvegarde entre
      les 6 niveaux, j'ai trouvé un Trainer qui fonctionne sous Recalbox.
      god mode, 9 vies, sauter au niveau.
      Download :
      http://Zclub.eu/DYNAMO-T.COM
      Dosbox.cfg obligatoire avec cycles=auto et scaler=none.

    • RE: Cheats in Recallbox nutzen

      Hallo,
      Zuerst ins Spiel gehen, einfach im Spiel Hotkey+B drĂŒcken, dafĂŒr muss in recalbox.conf system.emulators.specialkeys=default eingetragen sein.
      Dann in QuickMenu, Cheat Datei laden, die gewĂŒnschte Zeile von off auf on setzen. (Joystick links oder rechts), danach Apply Cheat Changes danach auf Resume und dann mĂŒsste es funktionieren. Einige Zeilen habe ich stellenweise eingefĂŒgt da es teilweise bessere Cheats im Netz gibt. Also nicht aus Retroarch heraus gehen, sonst sind die Cheats nicht mehr aktiv. Bei Resume kommt er zurĂŒck in das Spiel.
