Recalbox and Raspberry + Display/HDMI
-
Hi me and a friend, we are realizing a small project that has, as the title, the Raspberry 3 b+ and the recalbox, but our doubt is this: if we raspberry mount the display, this is completely compatible with the recalbox system? when the hdmi port will be connected will it be possible to use the hdmi without using the display?
thanks a lot to everyone

@giuseppe-morra I did not understand what you ask, sorry. But usually HDMI displays work with recalbox without any hazzle.

Thanks for the reply, and I apologize for if my question has not been clear, I try to explain myself better:
We in our project we have to mount a display (https://potentiallabs.com/cart/image/cache/catalog/Raspberry Pi 2/3.2inch-RPi-LCD-B-4-1-autoxauto-800x800.jpg) but we want to have the possibility to use, when needed, also the hdmi port, so my question is: if the display is connected, will the hdmi port work the same? if yes, while the hdmi port will work, will the display be off? thanks

@giuseppe-morra I‘ve seen the setup you aim for working before, but if that works out of the box, somebody else should tell you.

ok thanks, I will wait for an answer from someone who has already tried it

I can just tell you, as I own a Freeplay GBA CM3, that it should work. Because the driver from the build in display over the LCD Interface seems not to relate to the hdmi interface. Now, I dont know what your driver is. I used the hdmi-->vga with monitor during test of my lcd driver. I swapped from waveshare driver to a very quick fbcp-ili9341driver for the lcd and survey everything on the monitor. The CM3 is vegetarian brother from PI3. So it should also work with you. -
@dragu thank you very much, my question is actually: can both work? ie when I want to use the display I use the display, and when I want to use the hdmi port I use it, ie I can use both things (hdmi and display)?

@Giuseppe-Morra
Is what I did. If I remember only postion to be enabled in config.txt is# force hdmi while the tv can take time before sending the signal on the hdmi output hdmi_force_hotplug=1
In my case I have than both displays, if hdmi is plugged in. I cannot promise you with your lcd screen, just my own experience.

@dragu thank you so much!!!
