PS4 controller causes problems in Kodi

PS4 controller works without a problem for emulators but whenever I launch Kodi with the controller connected after half a minute or so it causes Kodi to freeze and it can't be used to navigate anymore (sound stutters and it acts like a button is kept on being pushed repeatedly)

The moment I disconnect the ps4 controller there is no problem at all.
Tried with wii remote and no problem in Kodi, it must be a problem with DS4 controllers I guess.

Is this a known problem ?

Not really sure but does there seem to be anything wrong with the controller? Do the analog sticks work fine for you?

But for me it works fine outside of Kodi as far as I can tell.

I won't resolve this problem as kodi 17 will make things a lot easier
