recalbox x86/x64
-
Hi.
I made the xu4, x86 and x86_64 ports.
There are official, and they are in the recalbox code now.
They works very well (x86_64 is waiting its last commits to be validated).
The word alpha, mean just that's it's not yet in the current recalbox version.
The current stable recalbox version is 3.x.
The next stable recalbox version is 4.0.
Once it will be out, 4.1 will become the beta version, and thus, these ports will become "beta". But still one time, they works very well, and they have no known bugs. -
coming in the x86/x64 ports more emulators like ds,gamecube,wii,3ds,ps2 and more ?
-
-
i've started ps2 but not finnished for the moment.
note that wii and gamecube are only for x86_64 and require a i5/i7 processor to play at normal rate.
ps2 requires x86 for the moment ;-( not x86_64.
The next x86_64 will allows to play wii and gamecube, but not yet with the true wiimote.
Play with the real wiimote as on a real wii will come a bit later. -
Oh my god!
This is the most amazing thing in a lot of time!!!!! -
@susan33 , many thanks for your hard work on the port! I'm currently checking, if this is finally an option to switch my cabinets and bartops from GameEx to Recalbox.
Right now, I have some questions:
-
I spent 2 hours to figure out how to change resolutions on the x64 version. It's running on a laptop with an external 16001200 Eizo screen attached via VGA. I can't get ES into a higher resolution than the standard 720p and the libretro cores also render with a 720p hight. Is there any way to have everything rendered nativly in 16001200 pixels 4:3 aspect ratio? Using global videomode "DMT 51 VGA" did nothing. And I can't find the config.txt file on the x64 build.
-
I noticed that the libretro cores do not show any overlay (Retro / Scanlines). Are they somehow missing or is it my fault?
-
While running Windows as OS on the laptop, I can switch off the internal screen and only use the external monitor by pressing Fn+F8 keys (usual laptop hotkeys). With Recalbox as OS, this button combo is not working and I had no luck switching off the internal display by messing around in the linux guts. Any idea? Maybe this belongs to the ACPI system?
-
Next I need to try is rom compatibility under MAME2010. Thats one of my major goals to have the 0.139 romset up and running smoothly, before Recalbox would be able to take over the crown from my classical MAME/GameEx cabinet setup.
Thanks for any help in advance and keep up your fantactic work!
I will also consider ditching the old Core2Duo laptops in favor of XU4s, if Mame2010 would run nicely.
Expect my donation soon.Duglim

for the moment, dual screen is not supported.
Changing resolution neigher.
if somebody is interested to patch it tip : xrandr can be called from es to do the job.
i'll make some try when i'll get a 2nd computer to at least make some tests.for the roms/shaders, i guess it's a global recalbox issue, not an x86_64 one. Possibly that rockaddicted have the answer. Probably, it's normal.

Thx for your answere. I would offer my time to try things out, but my skills on linux are not the best. I already struggle to open xrandr...

CEA and DMT are Pi only syntax

Overlay or apply shaders ? That's not the same thing

That's beyond our scope for now I'm afraid

The last time we tried Mame2010 we had major compatibility issues. But that try was on the Pi, I guess higher end CPU wouldn't run in such troubles. That's something we've been thinking of

My 2 cents : mame2010 should run on XU4. But as for me, Mamz2010 is faaaaar in my todo list, despite I'd love to see it on Recalbox 4.1

Technically x86 simply refers to a family of processors and the instruction set they all use. It doesn't actually say anything specific about data sizes. The term x86 started out as a 16-bit instruction set for 16-bit processors (the 8086 and 8088 processors), then was extended to a 32-bit instruction set for 32-bit processors (80386 and 80486), and now has been extended to a 64-bit instruction set for 64-bit processors. It used to be written as 80x86 to reflect the changing value in the middle of the chip model numbers, but somewhere along the line the 80 in the front was dropped, leaving just x86. More...x86/x64
