Unable to boot PC 64 bits
-
Hello,
I am trying to reinstall recalbox on a USB stick. I have had success prior to using a Dell XPS 13 9370, utilizing a 64GB drive and flashing using Etcher.
I am now trying to boot doing the same process and equipment, except for an updated Dell: Dell XPS 13 7390 (Bios 1.5.1), Intel Core i7 (10th Gen). This computer is approximately 3 months old. No luck. BIOS sees the USB as a bootable device, but when it switches to the Dell Logo the system freezes.
After researching Dell forums and whatnot, I've come to the conclusion that there's something incompatible with Recalbox 6.1.1 and this computer. Dell seems to have made the leap of faith and did away with legacy boot. Just for good measure, I went ahead and tried to install Ubuntu 20.04 and was successful.
Based on my VERY limited understanding of booting, a common complaint among fellow Dell 7390 owners is the legacy boot problem. Suggestions exist on how to "hack" GRUB to force the system to boot seems to exist, but that is way out of my skill set.
I would love a solution for anyone who may have encountered this problem, however, if this is a new issue, i'd like to formally document it with the devs (assuming they're not aware already)

From what you are saying, the problem is the BIOS incompatibility, so if there is any solution, it is the one you mentioned yourself:

I may be mistaken, but it will be difficult for someone to help you in this case, you have already found the source of the problem and a possible solution, there is no more that can be done ...
