Open question about MSX
-
Dear community,
I‘d like to know your opinion about this idea.
I want to remove the msx folder and just keep msx1 and msx2.
The reason? It is one more theme to maintain/add and anyome wanting to join both generations can just either use msx1 or msx2 folder. There is a reason to separate them though, as some games have the exact same name on msx1 as in msx2, although being different/improved version.
So the general question would be...
Do you agree if we remove the msx roms folder in favor of msx1 and msx2? -
Hello @paradadf
I vote to remove msx folder.
-
I was always puzzled by this third MSX folder to be honest.
All my MSX games are in the 1 and 2 folders, so I'm all for the deletion
-
@paradadf iagree to it, however shouldn't there be a folder for msx turbo r ? If i remember these kind of games can not launch automatically from msx2 folder
-
@voljega I don't know a single msx turbo r game. But if there is one and we need a folder for it because it needs a special parameter, I'm willing to draw the theme and made the needed modifications/additions.
-
@paradadf there is like less than ten games for it :op
-
@voljega ok, I just realized that the msx I draw for the msx theme folder is from a msx turbo r (or so I believe), so less work for me. There are indeed about 9 games for that pc according to: https://www.video-games-museum.com/en/sys/72-msx-turbo-r/3/all
-
I think a mixed MSX folder would be better; the MSX2 is not as popular as a separate model to be worth it to have both of them separate since when somebody talks abput a MSX 1/2 released game they say it was released in the MSX
-
@paradadf actually I found there are a lot more than 9 games on Turbo R (around 70/80 I would say) maybe a lot of them are homebrew or obscure ones but still it is interesting
so it would definitely be good to have it as an additional system
also not sure what can be done about it but I'm pretty sure I was never able to launch a msx2+ game (from the msx2 folder)
-
@voljega it is already done for 6.1. Homebrew might need special configuration (maybe not), but it should be possible to configure the emulator for them.
