Universal XML Scraper V2 is an easy to use and configure scraper.
It works in English, French, German, Spanish, Portugaise (and all other language you can translate it if you want )
It's work only on windows (sorry) but maybe you can try to test it on WINE.
It's open source ( The Github )
And based on Screenscraper Database, I really think it's the best DB you can found right now... It's just 1 year old but better (in quality and content) than any other DB I found... And it's just the begining

What you can do with Universal XML Scraper (UXS for the friend ) :

Easy configuration :
Wizard and configuration menu are easy to handle.
And the great things is the "Autoconfiguration", select your profil depending on the Systeme you use (Retropie or Recalbox for now... but it's really open) Then choose your "root" directory where all your Roms folder are... Then you just hace to choose the directory you want to scrape all is autoconfigurated.

Evolutive :
All the configuration are in XML File... So if you are not pleased with the "pre configured" things you can do what you want.
And so it's open to lot's configuration without touching the code.

Lot's of language :
I already say that the software can handle lot's of language... But do you know the DB too ?
If you want your synopsis in Spanish, deutsh, French, portugaise, and of course english, it's possible.
Depending on your language selection for UXS, the data you scrape will match.
(And it's possible in menu to change that).
It of course have a fallback function... so if no synopsis in deutsh is found, it will take the English one (for exemple)

Fast :
The default configuration use only one thread (roms were scrapped one by one). But if you want to help us to filling the hole in the Screenscraper Database, you will be granted more thread...
with only one participation, you already have 2 threads... And scrape 2X faster
Don't forget to put your Screenscraper information in the general menu to check how many Threads you can have.

Acurate :
The scrape is done by 2 way : your romfile hash and if not found your romfile name.
it's not taking the Game name, only the rom name to match a rom in the Screenscraper Database.
Why ? Because, rom are link to a country. And media and some informations are also link to the rom country.
So when you scrape a Japan rom, you will have the Japan Box and the Japan Name of the game.
If you scrape a US one it's the same, you will have media and information corresponding.
And no mistake can happen with 2 games with "near" the same rom name... Because Hash aren't the same

Nice :
Emulationstation can handle only one dynamique picture... So you have to choose : Screenshot ? 3D Box ? 2D Box ?....
With the MIX profil, you can "create" very nice picture to make your front end beautiful ...

What Change in the V2 :

• Total rewrote of XML functions
• Total rewrote of GDI functions (the one who make the MIX ^^)
• Now all Scraping profil are in XML with tone of options
• Now all MIX profil are in XML with also tone of options
• Multithread, you can have several rom scraped at the same time. For this you need to register on Screenscraper (with a single registration you will have 2 threads, if you participate to the BDD you can have up to 10 threads.)
• Wizard at start to help the first configuration
• Scrape with recursivity (subfolder can now be scraped)
• lot's of configuration menu (but they are easy to understand... And I need to make tooltips )
• Autoconfiguration and Fullscrape work
• New function to handle timeout and network problem
• Changing standard things are easy now (2D Box instead of Screenshot, Game Name with region,...)
• Autohide function (Bios are auto hidden, and if you have a cue+bin, the bin will be hide too.. So are the "track" files) and it's configurable in the XML Scrape profil
• ... Lot's of more things I can't remember... 3 month on this ^^

Bon désolé, faut que j’arrête de répondre le matin au réveil sans café dans les veines à la relecture de mon post, je suis un peu "virulent"

Donc si je reprend : La qualité des médias de ScreenScraper (et donc d'UXS) dépend énormément (voir exclusivement) des médias proposés par les utilisateurs et ceux récupérés à droite à gauche...

Notre rêve serait de trouver un (ou plusieurs) énorme collectionneur prêt à scanner en très haute définition leur(s) collection(s) complète de covers.
Le problème c'est qu'on en connait pas

On a quand même la chance d'avoir certains "inscrits" qui nous scan leur propre média. En règle général on essaie de récupérer ce qu'il y a de mieux sur le net. Mais concrètement ce n'est pas toujours possible... Et si la qualité d'un média est pourris, tous le monde à la possibilité d'ajouter un media de meilleur qualité

Après, un autre point à prendre en compte c'est l'espace de stockage...

Si on avait tous en 2400x2400 on arriverait vite en saturation de stockage

mais (spoiler alerte) on change bientot de serveur pour encore plus performant et avec beaucoup plus d'espace

Enfin, en fonction des systèmes, une covers complète c'est autour de 1000x700. Ce qui est tout de même très raisonnable, même sur un écran Full HD (quelque soit sa taille ) bon sur du 4K, faut faire un x2 en interpolation, mais comme je disais (pas forcement gentiment ) :
"Qui joue à des jeux qui ont une résolution d'origine de 160x144 sur un écran 4K ?????"
Si c'est le cas, revendez votre télé 4K et achetez un énorme écran CRT ^^ ça passera mieux
(J'imagine effectivement dans 10 ans : "héhé, j'ai ma télé de 16m sur 9 en 360K, la cover pareil, j'ai fait un agrandissement format affiche de cinéma d'une boite en carton qui faisait 12 cm sur 12 à l'epoque. Le jeu ? oui oui, c'est le petit carré de 3 cm sur 3 au milieu la... je joue en pixel perfect dans la résolution d'origine, je suis un puriste moi..." )

Encore une fois le débat est un peu différent entre : "les médias sont dans une résolution trop faible." et "est-ce vraiment pertinent qu'ils soient dans une résolution plus importante ?"

(bon après on a aussi des trucs affreux, et on limite au maximum, il n'y a vraiment que pour les trucs introuvable qu'on garde... mais à la limite on peut lancer un sondage : "vous préférez avoir un scrape 'complet' mais avec quelques trucs moches" ou "rien du tout" ?)

So first created for Retropie does it work with Recalbox ?
Answer : YES VERY WELL ^^

And this is a quick tuto on how to install it :

• Burn the 4.1 img to the µSD (you can download it soon ^^ )

• Edit the Config.txt on the µSD : config.txt

• Plug a Wifi Key on USB and start

• Config your WIFI on Recalbox "Network" Menu

• Go to the Recalbox share from your computer (\\RECALBOX)

• Navigate to \\RECALBOX\share\system

• Edit "recalbox.conf"

• Look for the "global.videomode" setting (near the end) and set it to "default"

• Immediately reboot your Recalbox by pressing select -> shutdown recalbox

If your Rom aren't found, there is some explications :

Screenscraper (the Database) can found your Rom with the CRC HASH (a calculation on your file) and with the filename of your Rom. In both case, these informations must be in the database.

So if you rom is an exotique one (or a zipped/unzipped/rezipped/... one) or if you renamed your rom. It mays not work.

Prefere No-intro full set these are good rom set and they are all referenced

Es tu sur qu'il s'agisse de "doublon" ?

Pour moi il s'agit de jeux identique possedant le meme nom mais certainement pour des regions differentes (exemple Mario(J) et Mario(U))

Je te conseil de faire un tour dans la configuration des options, et dans l'option "Name" tu choisi "Game Name + Country".

Ainsi si tu as un jeu identique mais pour 2 régions différentes, celle-ci sera affiché...

(Pour information, ES n'affiche les informations que des roms qui "existe" donc si tu as des doublons à l'affichage, tu dois certainement l'avoir aussi dans ta liste des roms... mais peut être avec des noms differents)

Enfin, une fonction de nettoyage des gamelists est prévue il faut juste que je la développe

(Par contre, je comprend rien à ton thème ^^ j'ai voulu faire des modifs et j'ai tout cassé je suis vraiment pas bon en theming ^^)

I think it's impossible, the way I code it use Windows internal function (For XML, the GDI+,...)
So it's impossible right now to compil it on MacOs.

You can try WINE or a virtual Windows, that's the only solution I have (with no garanty. I remember @rockaddicted Tryed it on WINE without success )

First of all, the last version is the 1.3.0.11
And this version fixe this error message (due to a TimeOut on Screenscraper)

For SSH fonction, It work (at last on my Recalbox ^^) had you change some password ?
If so, you can edit the SSH config in the UXS-config.ini file :

[CONNEXION]
Menu_SSH = 1
Plink_root = root
Plink_mdp = recalboxroot
Plink_IP = RECALBOX

For your SNES Scrape, if the SSH commands doesn't work had you kill Emulationstation manually ?
If not, that's why. Be sur emulationstation is killed before scrape (you have a black screen on your recalbox when it's done )

Let me know if there is other problem I'll try to help you as much as I can.

Like I said in a Retropie Post, try to convert your background as png, and compress them with pngquant or optipng... You can have surprise about the size it will be

(and maybe solve some WSOD problem )

Effectivement, il y a un "petit" bug la dessus, je ne sais pas trop pourquoi (pour le moment) mais des fois ça marche, des fois ça marche pas... Je me demande si les versions de recalbox (4.0x et 4.1x) n'ont pas une incidence... Mais ce serait bizarre car j'ai aussi le problème sur Retropie

C'est dans ma todolist de debug... Effectivement, pour le moment, privilégiez la version "à la main" avec Putty... (Une autre solution non testé serait de fermer Recalbox en mode "rapide" pour ne pas écraser le gamelist fraîchement créé)...

Pour info, je vois que tu utilise UXS pour scraper tes roms

Tu peux donc télécharger le MIX "sur mesure" pour ce theme

global.videomode=default dans le recalbox.conf

J'avais la même chose sur mon Raspiboy (image dans Emulationstation : OK, Son dans les jeux : OK, image dans les jeux : KO )

Par contre, il faut que tu accedes à ta partition Share.

Ton monnayeur est considéré comme un switch (un bouton normal) il faut donc le relier au ground des GPIO.... Pas à la masse de ton Alim... (J’espère que ça a rien grillé du coup ^^ peut de chance avec la masse, mais on sais jamais ^^)

(for the line number it's pretty hard to find, the exe combine librairies and main code.. So finding a precise line is impossible from the exe..)

What I see is there is a probleme with _zip.au3 who is the zip librairie.

It use zipfldr.dll a "standard" dll from windows (it's for the Mix)

What kind of software do you use to zip/unzip file ? maybe it change this dll...

You can download the standard dll here if you want to try to put it in your system file (probably in C:\Windows\System32 )
