    • File permissions - cant build from source?

      I want to build software to run on my recal box.

      Why cant I change file permissions in a tarball I just extracted??

      I ran:

      mount -o remount,rw /

      And yet file permissions wont change when I attempt to

      chmod +x -R ./

      Its extremely frustrating that you have artifically locked down recalbox so much.
      Im not a linux neophyte, just let me build and install software if i want to.

    • GPI Case2 Dock HDMI - Wrong Colours (splash pink/missing reds??)

      I have a weird issue where the recalbox HDMI connection on the GPI Case 2 dock appears to have the wrong colours.

      With the splash screen enabled it looks decidely pink on the rainbow splash when it boots via the dock and videos in Kodi are similarly not displaying the correct red levels.

      e.g

      Recalbox Splash

      I've tested numerous config.txt settings and cmdline.txt but I cant affect the colour, only the screen size.

      I've tested with a different OS, PiOS on a different SD card and it boots the splash image docked and connected to the HDMI so its not a hardware/dock/cable issue.

      PiOS Splash

      When it boots off the dock to the LCD screen the colours are perfect, so its some combination of config.txt settings.

      Can anyone help?

    • RE: Libretro Configs ignored??

      Can someone tell me what happens when the GPI Case 2 is booted with the dock and without it?
      Would I be able to setup an option to seup a symlink to dock configs and non dock configs on boot?

    • RE: Libretro Configs ignored??

      So I've found that when I correctly configure:

      /recalbox/share/system/.config/retroarch/config/Gambatte/Gambatte.cfg

      For my USB controller, it will then prevent the GPI Case 2 from booting games when its isnt connected to the dock.

      Removing all but the player mapping for the controller from the CFG file and the game will boot when it isnt connected to the dock.

      But the mapping for the controller overrides the mapping for the case.

      So i think the recalbox GPI Case 2 installer needs amended so that we can actually use and map controllers when it is connected to the dock.

      As currently you can hook it up to the dock but the case mapping seems to take priority meaning you basically cant play games with anything but the case??

      Can the mapping not be done per controller, this controller is connected use this button mapping??
      Because currently its player 1/player 2, which isnt static.

    • RE: Libretro Configs ignored??

      Ok so this file is ignored:

      /recalbox/share/system/.config/retroarch/config/gambatte_libretro.cfg

      But copying the contents into:

      /recalbox/share/system/.config/retroarch/config/Gambatte/Gambatte.cfg

      And the RetroArch core works as I expect it to.

      So I think recalbox needs to fix where it looks up the override config files because i've been flicking though menus and out of the box its not possible for a user fix the buttons without manually writing config files

    • Libretro Configs ignored??

      I've been having real trouble with 1/2 player using a controller with the GPI Case 2 runnig recal box.

      I hvae setup a config file for Gambatte_Libretro as under the GB my controller Start/Select are not setup correctly (start = 9, select =8 while Retroarch every time I reopen the game Start = 7 and Select = 6, so I cannot start the game)

      I have seutp:

      /recalbox/share/system/.config/retroarch/config/gambatte_libretro.cfg

      input_player1_select = "rshift"
      input_player1_select_axis = "nul"
      input_player1_select_btn = "8"
      input_player1_select_mbtn = "nul"
      input_player1_start = "enter"
      input_player1_start_axis = "nul"
      input_player1_start_btn = "9"
      input_player1_start_mbtn = "nul"

      And a specific game override:

      /recalbox/share/system/.config/retroarch/config/Gambatte/Tetris.cfg

      aspect_ratio_index = "22"
      input_player10_joypad_index = "9"
      input_player11_joypad_index = "10"
      input_player12_joypad_index = "11"
      input_player13_joypad_index = "12"
      input_player14_joypad_index = "13"
      input_player15_joypad_index = "14"
      input_player16_joypad_index = "15"
      input_player3_joypad_index = "2"
      input_player4_joypad_index = "3"
      input_player5_joypad_index = "4"
      input_player6_joypad_index = "5"
      input_player7_joypad_index = "6"
      input_player8_joypad_index = "7"
      input_player9_joypad_index = "8"
      ````
      But the game override appears to be the only part which is picked up, and also does b****r all. Compared to the actual config file which is doing what I need it to do, but isnt loaded.
      @henryjfry
      Hmm the code block got messed up and I cant edit it.
      /opt/retropie/configs/arcade/retroarch.cfg
      input_player1_select = "alt"
      input_player1_select_axis = "nul"
      input_player1_select_btn = "0"
      input_player1_select_mbtn = "nul"
      input_player1_start = "num1"
      input_player1_start_axis = "nul"
      input_player1_start_btn = "0"
      input_player1_start_mbtn = "nul"
      So the images show "N/A" for buttons on Port 3 where the Post 1 and 2 are showing Buton 4, 5, 6, 7 and Turbo
    • Input 3 - arcade missing several buttons
      Im trying to setup 2 controllers for Arcade games (eg SF2)
      Im on the PI CM4 Gpi Case 2 with the latest version of RecalBox
      And the 2nd controller (ie Input 3) appears to only have Button1/Button2/Button3 with any additional buttons being "---" within retroarch, and they therefore cannot be mapped.
      (If you manually map some of the buttons the missing buttons start working until you restart at which point the working button is disabled again)
      So for SF2 there is a missing Punch and Kick button, so North, East, South, West the South (ie A or B button) is missing an arcade Button 4 definition. And the R1 sholder button is missing a "Button 5/6"?
      I had other similar issues with a lightgun image for retropie and the issue was that the particular buttons had been setup as "-1" in the file:
      /opt/retropie/configs/arcade/retroarch.cfg
      input_player1_select = "alt"
      input_player1_select_axis = "nul"
      input_player1_select_btn = "0"
      input_player1_select_mbtn = "nul"
      input_player1_start = "num1"
      input_player1_start_axis = "nul"
      input_player1_start_btn = "0"
      input_player1_start_mbtn = "nul"
      So replacing:
      input_player1_select_btn = "0"
      input_player1_select_btn = "nul"
      And the buttons could be mapped in Mame2010.
      But while the buttons were setup as "-1" in this specific retroarch file it was not allowing the buttons to work correctly.
      So are there equivalent files within recalbox?
      Ive attached the retroarch screenshot for each of the three inputs, you can clearly see Port3 is not the same as it only allows 3 arcade buttons to be mapped.
    • Multiple wifi doesnt work unless all networks are up????
      The problem which was reported in 2017 here:
      https://gitlab.com/recalbox/recalbox-support/-/issues/1329
      Still appears to be an issue.
      If you setup more than 1 wifi in the http://recalbox/recalbox-conf
      And any of the additional wifi networks cannot be accessed, it wont auto connect to any WIFI it detects as being active
      If you prod it with a WPS connection it will connect just fine.
      So i've tested this by enabling 3 WIFI in recalbox.conf
      WIFI 1 = Home Wifi
      WIFI 2 = Phone hotspot
      WIFI 3 = Home Wifi
      With home Wifi disabled the hotspot doesnt connect.
      With the hotspot disabled, the home wifi wont connect.
      So its not a preference order type thing, it seems to hit an empty network and stop trying to connect to anything.
      The only way the home wifi connects is when the phone hotspot is also switched on.
      It does appear to auto switch if a network is disabled though.
      But the actual wifi connection when you specify multiple networks appears to be broken.
      So I think this is some issue with whatever is interacting with the conf file
      I'd just install wpa supplicant and be done, but of cource recalbox wont allow that.
      So is there a fix for actually being able to use more than 1 wifi network which may or may not be currently active?
      This is on the latest version of Recalbox on the RPI Compute Module 4, GPI Case 2
