    • Does RC6 run on the RP3A+ ?

      I don't see the A+ plus listed in the official support docs, but since the RP3A+ has been out for a few months now, I'm wondering if RC6 can be installed on a A+ based system ?

      The RP3A+'s is basically a RP3 without the network port and RAM cut into half, but it's tiny and makes a great board for really small cases.

      So, is this supported ?

      @substring sorry to be pushing this once again.

      This one turned out to be really annoying. I am - by no means - expecting any quick solution to this, but it would be great, if you added to to the list of known bugs for the current 4.1 stable, so it can get fixed in the long run.

      Just wanted to reiterate: I'm not changing any button config. The fact that I'm merely visiting this part of the RA options, makes the hotkey lose it's function once I'm back in the game.

      but I'm not even changing any button assignments.

      I sometimes use this when I have a controller with not enough buttons for all functions. For example when trying new shaders - I quickly enter the Retroarch menu, assign a new button for switching shaders and all's fine. Worked absolutely flawlessly on all previous Recalbox versions.

      Now, just entering the assignment menu (without doing any changes) and returning to the game after that will kill the hotkey button.

      That's certainly not supposed to happen, is it ?

    • 4.1 Stable: losing my Hotkey after going into Retroarch settings

      When I run a game, then enter the Retroarch menu (hotkey+B), go to settings, input settings, hotkey binds and then exit back to the game (hotkey+B again or through the menu), the hotkey will no longer function.

      This is without making any changes to the hotkey binds.

      Everything else on the controller still works. Unplugging and replugging the control does not help. The control remains functional, but not the hotkey - so there's no way to exit back into emulation station.

      This is a new bug, which (I think) wasn't present on the 4.0.2 stable version.

      Sorry to be pushing this old thread. Since I continue to run into this problem, I have an additional question regarding this one:

      I have a Recalbox 4.1 setup that suffers from the problem and on an alternative SD card I'm running 4.0.2 which did - indeed - fix it.

      On the 4.1 setup I did change the global resolution for ES to 720p as well, so technically there's no longer a resolution switch happening between choosing a ROM in ES and Retroarch running it. The problem remains though and I wonder why this is ?

      Interestingly running ES in 1080p and changing the emulators to run in 1080p as well fixes this for most users. Why doesn't the 720p/720p combo achieve the same ? Unfortunately the Pi3 isn't powerful enough to run the emus in 1080p when using various shaders, so 720p is really the best option.

      Any insight is highly appreciated - thank you guys!

    • Quick question on external external USB storage

      I understand that when switching from internal to external storage a share folder on USB drive is created and used.

      Just a few additional questions:

      • what happens when Recalbox is set to external storage, but no USB drive is present. Does it default back to the internal share folder ?
      • Is the internal share folder completely ignored once an external one is present and used or are they both used ?
      • when using an external drive, I assume I have to move associated files like BIOS files or config files (basically everything in the share folder) as well, right ?

    • PC Engine Arcade CD Games not working (and fix)

      Hey guys,

      I remember that some people had problems running PCE Arcade CD images (but I can't find the exact posting right now). Most answers usually tend to point at BIN/CUE naming errors and stuff, but when my games recently stopped working (from working just fine before), I found that ENABLING the REWIND feature in the GUI (or in the Retroarch) settings causes this behaviour. Disabling the feature fixes those games immediately....

      Might be useful to remember for anybody running into this problem.

    • Is there a way to change the hotkey combinations ?

      Quite often I find myself entering the Retroarch config menu by mistake (usually when playing some action title and preparing to use the save state function).

      I'm looking for a way to put the menu call for Retroarch on some other button than Hotkey+B.

      Any hints are highly appreciated! Thanks in advance 🙂

      haha, yes, probably.

      I just noticed it since I had ZERO problems with save states on any other system than the NG. When you refer to save states as a buggy feature, do you mean on the FBA-libretro core in particular, in Retroarch in general or with Recalbox all in all ?

    • Save States on NeoGeo Games (partially) don't work

      Using the FBA-Libretro core.

      Save states work fine while running a game. I can save and reload just as expected, but once I QUIT a game and reload it either right away or after playing other games first, the save states won't work. The emulator tries to load it (and it does), but the results show a lot of graphical glitches, wrong palettes and sometimes the emu will crash right away.

      If this is a known bug and I overlooked to read about it elsewhere, my apologies!

      Anyway - any idea what's causing this or how to fix it ?

      Thanks so much! I know about the mount/remount option, I just find it a bit of a nuissance when you you're doing that a lot.

      Thanks for the tip with the cycling through the shaders on the fly. I didn't realize that it accesses all the available shaders. My controller doesn't have enough buttons, so I didn't try that before.

      It would still be GREAT though if I was able to add more shader presets to the recalbox GUI option (not just scanlines and retro). Is there a way ?

      I did have a look, but I think that's not what I asked about.

      The video_shader_dir option in the retroarchcustom.cfg file shows to the shader folder in the share_init location. That's where all the glsp files are located and that's alright this way.

      The two .cfg files in the shaderset folder though - they determine which shaders are used in the first place for each system when either scanlines or retro are selected through the GUI.

      I successfully edited the scanlines.cfg and retro.cfg located in share_init/system/configs/shaderset, but because of the read_only file system that's a real nuissance if I want to experiment.

      I'm just wondering what the two files in share/system/configs/shaderset are doing, if editing them has no effect whatsoever. Maybe there's a cfg entry somewhere which I can edit, so recalbox uses the these two files instead of their share_init incarnations.

      And another related question: is there an easy way to add a third or fourth shader preset, so I'm not limited to two shaders available from recalbox's GUI ?

      Hey guys,

      aren't all .cfg files from the share folder supposed to override the same files from the share_init folder?

      I'm running recalbox 4.00.beta4 and I'm editing the two shader config files (share/system/configs/shaderset) retro.cfg and scanlines.cfg, but no matter what I do recalbox loads the very same shaders based on those two files (in their share_init version).

      A bug maybe ?
