    • RE: Testers wanted: major system upgrade (Pi3b+, KODI 17 and much more ...)

      Hi all,

      Great job Recalbox team on the new Christmas Beta. Seems to be running great so far but I am having an issue where the Scraper is not creating or modifying the gamelist.xml when Scraping. I have manually tried updating the Games List but no metadata is shown for these games. Manually Scraping a single game also doesn't add the metadata.

      Seems like an issue in this Beta? I've tried rebuilding the SD card 3 times with the same results. Not system specific - using Screenscraper as the Scraper.

      Any workaround known?

      Many thanks!

      :EDIT: Just noted the post above mine - looks like the same issue?

    • Strange font on default theme?

      Hey guys,

      I'm assuming this should be reported as a bug but seems the font is slightly 'italic' on some titles?

      alt text
      See the 'E ON' on BLAZE ON
      See the 'G STAR' on BLAZING STAR
      No issues on the BLOMBY CAR

      I think it's been like it for a while but never really noticed until using a small screen - then I noticed it looks like that on a 1080p TV too!

      Had the same problem, thankfully was only using a test SD card and not my fully configured one.

    • RE: 3:2 Aspect Ratio?

      @Substring Thanks for the help! I created a custom mode without the aspect ratio, seems to have done the trick! Font looks horrible but I could probably modify the theme for larger font to fix that.

      So my config.txt has this:
      hdmi_cvt=480 320 60
      hdmi_group=2
      hdmi_mode=87
      hdmi_drive=2

      It will take a 1080p/720p signal but it looks 'tall' hence trying to set a custom resolution/aspect ratio.

    • RE: 3:2 Aspect Ratio?

      @Substring I understand but in custom CVT I need to define an aspect ratio?
      aspect ratio 1=4:3, 2=14:9, 3=16:9, 4=5:4, 5=16:10, 6=15:9 are the only options, no 3:2?

    • RE: 3:2 Aspect Ratio?

      @Substring It's not the emulators that are a problem now it's the UI. I have read through the video config but don't see a way to force my resolution? None of the HDMI modes or the CVT mode has the right resolution/aspect ratio options? Perhaps I am understanding it wrong...

      This is the display I am using: https://www.aliexpress.com/item/Newest-3-5-LCD-USB-Touch-Screen-Display-HDMI-1920x1080-LCD-Display-Audio-for-Raspberry-Pi/32770598031.html

    • RE: 3:2 Aspect Ratio?

      @Substring Thanks! I did look at that but seems you have to define a ratio? There is no 3:2. The screen is HDMI 🙂

      Changing the RetroArch config to 3:2 ratio the games look fine, just struggling with the UI looking right now. I wouldn't mind black bars at the top and the bottom but the 'tall' stretch is bugging me!

    • 3:2 Aspect Ratio?

      Hey guys,

      Is there anyway to make the UI and the games run in 3:2 ratio? I have a 480x320 display which everything looks 'tall' on.

      I've looked through the possible config.txt settings but not able to find that resolution.

      I have already set:
      framebuffer_width=480
      framebuffer_height=320

      but doesn't seem to make a difference?

      Thanks!

    • Pi Zero Stutter/Glitching

      Hey guys,

      Using a Pi Zero in a project and have found that when in game the audio/video will glitch every 6-7 seconds. Is there a process which is running in the background which could be causing this? I've tried disabling rewind, smoothing, WiFi, Bluetooth, using different cores, a 'lighter' skin (Pixel TFT) and doing a fresh install with only a single rom loaded. All have this slight glitch/lag.

      Doesn't seem to be an issue on the Pi3 so I'm thinking something is taking CPU time up every 6-7 seconds?

      Monitoring via the web interface shows CPU barely ever hitting 100% but refreshing the page causes lag anyway.

      Any ideas and/or suggestions?

      :EDIT: It's very subtle and only really noticeable when playing something like Mario where timing is crucial. It can be seen in this video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1kXB_9y9-ZE @ 4:15-ish

      Well I've had mine up and running for a while now. Successfully scraped and renamed all ROMS - however, I've now ran out of space! What is the best method to move to another (Larger) SD Card without losing all the configuration I've already done?

      On the original dual shock controller there was a button to activate the analogy option. Perhaps we can have a hotkey combination?

      You are right though, the older games I need to go into retroarch and deactivate analog.

      @Substring It did work in Retropie so must be possible? Pretty sure when I enabled Analog in Retropie the vibration just started working without need to change anything else.

      @Substring

      Perfect, that worked a treat. Analog now working, I assume vibration doesn't though?

      I've got a couple of NES30 Pro controller on order so I guess I won't need the vibration 🙂

      Really love how simple the setup and interface is in Recalbox, no features I really miss.

    • RE: Up and running just a couple of niggles...

      Hi Substring,

      For Playstation there is a Dual Shock controller available which certain games support. By default Recalbox seems to map the D-Pad to the left analog stick. For instance in Gran Turismo 2 there is an option to enable Dual Shock which lets you use the left analog for modular steering and the right for modular throttle/brake. Also enable the vibration.

      I think doing it on Retropie was like this:
      pcsx_rearmed_pad1type = "analog"
      pcsx_rearmed_pad2type = "analog"
      to
      /opt/retropie/configs/all/retroarch-core-options.cfg

      Do I add those lines to the Recalbox config?

      I'm glad the N64 thing is an issue - I think it must be down to my TV.

    • Up and running just a couple of niggles...

      Hey guys,

      Just moved over from Retropie as quite frankly I am fed up of the tinkering and I wanted something more plug and play.

      Recalbox has worked a treat but I have a couple of outstanding issues which I just can't seem to crack.

      1. Can't seem to figure out how to use Dual Shock (Analog sticks) on the PSX emulator. I have tried creating a custom config in Retroarch but I only have the option for Retropad or Retropad w/Analog (No Dual Shock).
      2. I have large black boarders around N64 games which for whatever reason I can't remove? Tried changing the Recalbox config for N64 to fullscreen mode but didn't work.

      Any help appreciated! Thanks!
