Will be Steam Controller supported in 4.1?
-
Hello, I have a Steam Controller in my pc and a Steam Link and recently I thought if Steam Controller will be supported in our recalbox. As a I have one, I can help with any driver if you tell me how.
Thank you!
-
@charlesmarried as far as I remember, 4.1 already supports it. I think there was a switch in recalbox.conf to enable it.
-
Is this official? Because Im looking for a new gamepad and if It is official I Will wait til the 4.1 stable and use the steam controller.
Thank you!
-
@charlesmarried Yep steam controller support has been added on 4.1.
But it is an external integration, no team's member have this gamepad to test and we didn't get feedback about that by community. -
What really means that is an external integration? I can give you feedback if you want. The Steam Controller is supported by steam wireless dongle and USB cable connection?
I can help you if you want.
-
That means that is someone externe to the project that submitted this integration.
You will be able to test it and give a feedback once the 4.1 available.
I think this gamepad will work on USB, but you can check the issue related to this point on github's issues tracker of recalbox.
I don't have time to check for the moment. -
Hi everyone!!
Sorry if this has been already asked before in 4.1, but I think that it's not interesting to create a new topic.
I am wondering if anyone success to use the Steam Controller after Recalbox 17.12.01 update ?
-
Hi, you have to enable steam service, by editing your
recalbox.conf
file ->controllers.steam.enabled=1
-
@rockaddicted Hello, thanks for your feedback.
I managed to add this in recalbox.conf in 4.1 but it doesn't work.
I will verify with 17.12.01 if this one is still enabled. -
@samir hi this service has been fixed on 17.12.02 so upgrade on last version and gamepad should work.
-
Hello.
This is my first "contribution". I have the steam controller and recallbox 4.1 (17.12.02) With a secondary controller (ps3) to acces the controller options, I managed to partially config the steam controller as a keyboard, wired via USB cable (steam wireless dongle didn´t work). The thig is that I couldn`t map all the buttons, so the thing is that I can map only the arrows, y, x and select / start. very useless in "complex" games.
If there's anything I can test with it let me know.
-
@alfonso-urbán yeah, I'd need an archive support please. The fact that yuo map it as a keyboard will de a source of big troubles ...
-
i have the same problem : i'm using the last version 17.12.02, i have controllers.steam.enabled=1 but it still doesnt work.
i can not map any buttons. it somehow detected my steam controller as a xbox controller but i could press any buttons it didnt do anything at all.
i tried again today it didnt even detected it as a xbox controller, there is just nothing.I've tried to disable PS3 controllers, tried to plug my steam controller but nothing works.
any ideas on how to fix it ? thk
-
@maxime-belloir got my hands on a steam controller, i'll give it a try sooner or later
-
ok thk a lot
-
@maxime-belloir first test : it works in debug mode, not normal mode ... toot tired to debug that ...
-
turn on your controller much after ES has started it works. You'll have to remap it sadly, it can't work with a xbox360 controller
-
So, Substring, the steam controller does work? Are you using the wireless dongle? When you say to turn on the controller much after it's started... how long is this duration? 5-10 minutes? When you say remap, do you mean that you have to do this every time that you start it up?
Also, are you in normal mode now? If not, how does one enter debug mode?
I haven't tried enabling the steam controller setting. How does one go about trying this setting to enable the steam controller? Sorry for the dumb questions, I'm a complete noob.
-
@userreddit turn recalbox on, wait something like 1 or 2 minutes after es finished loading, turn the pad on using the wireless dongle.
You need to remap the pad once for all.
-
@substring Hmm, I tried this and I'm still getting no response from the steam controller. I have not changed this setting that you all have referred to, controllers.steam.enabled=1, because I'm not sure how to. How do I switch this setting? Maybe it will work if I enable this setting?
