[RETROPIE THEME - PORT POSIBILITY] Cardboard Mini NES + Nes mini and Famicom mini themes
-
Hi friends, I have seen this theme for retropie:
https://retropie.org.uk/forum/topic/8391/cardboard-mini-nes-nes-mini-and-famicom-mini-themes
It has a very accomplished look that is very reminiscent of the mini nes.
The author is still finishing it but I would say that he is almost ready. Look at the latest developments in the retropie forum to know what I tell themI was wondering if it would be possible to carry it to recalbox.I have no knowledge in this work
But I would like to know what the impediments would be if they exist. In my opinion, it is a great subject that must not be overlookedIt would look great on recalbox. You will say what you think.
PD: Excuse mi english.

@nj180grados it's pretty cool, totally pixelated, but I do not look at it, just the images, it gives to run on recalbox, however, do not believe the favorites function, will not work.
There is a possibility yes, to make it work 100% in recalbox, I will contact the developer, to see if I can work
-
@azvarel great!! I appreciate the interest .. I would love to have this graphic aspect in recalbox, I hope it works out well.
I await your news man!
Thank you! -
I have it in my recalbox and works perfect!!
-
As I suspected, I put here the version of famicom, and the favorites do not work and several other systems do not have thema included, would have to redo ... these too.
In this print I took, you can see. -
Just looked at the theme, a lot of systems is not included indeed. Needs to be created aswell . Same goes for the favorites/imageviewer part.
I do love the looks of this theme.

Hello,
I'm author of this theme. The theme is not finished yet but I will be happy to port it myself when it's closer to completion. For the most part it will only require some folder name changes (e.g FBA is already supported, it's just recalbox is expecting a different folder name).
So far it supports 42 different systems and more are being added, it will just take a little time as I need to draw backgrounds, logos and icons for each system.

@ruckage I can help you with what I need and I have free time.
-
Hi @ruckage !
i hope you can do a 240p 4/3 version of your theme when finished, would be wonderfull on a CRT
Anyway, great job ! -
Indeed, this looks excellent!

Hi @ruckage I am the author of the post of this forum, I saw your theme for retropie and I fell in love with it has a great look that reminds me a lot of the mini nes, I want to thank you for offering to port this theme to recalbox.
I understand that it takes a lot of work to draw all the systems so we will wait for the necessary time and we will be watching for progress. For my part I have no knowledge on the subject but if I can help you in something here you have me for whatever.
@azvarel thank you very much for contacting @ruckage.
Greetings and thanks.

This theme would be a great addition to recalbox. Very retro, very... Nintendo-ish.
I love it! -
-
This kind of theme needs a work on emulationstation because for the moment the "system view" is not themable.
Maybe in the future...
Sorry I confused with another theme -

One question though : I thought that pads and buttons are not themable (yet ?). So I'm curious to know how you changed the dpad and buttons
a picture displayed as "extra"
-
@rockaddicted one more thing we should consider making themable ...
-
yep it is planned, but no really time to work on that for the moment.
-
@rockaddicted i'm talking about writing down the theme feature, not starting the dev asap
-
Let the community take care of the themes
-
Thanks for the replies and sorry for not replying sooner.

Greetings and thanks. No problem. I can't give a time frame for when I will port it but I have a list of systems I'm working on for Retropie and once they are done I can look into porting it to recalbox - I don't think it will be too difficult but it's best to do once the theme is complete otherwise I would need to maintain several different versions.

Anyway, great job !Hi. A 4x3 version is planned though probably not in 240p as the graphics are based on a 270 pixel height image as that divides cleanly into 1080p which was my target resolution.

Hi. As @rockaddicted says it's just an "extra" image as it was the best way to do it currently.
Not sure if recalbox supports carousel theming yet but it's recently been added to Retropie so I re-themed the system carousel as well. It uses the <feature> tag so on versions of ES that don't support the carousel theming it will still work and reverts back to the the old logos.
Here is a video of the new carousel in action, you can also see all of the systems supported so far:
