    • RE: [RETROPIE THEME - PORT POSIBILITY] Cardboard Mini NES + Nes mini and Famicom mini themes

      Hello,

      I'm author of this theme. The theme is not finished yet but I will be happy to port it myself when it's closer to completion. For the most part it will only require some folder name changes (e.g FBA is already supported, it's just recalbox is expecting a different folder name).

      So far it supports 42 different systems and more are being added, it will just take a little time as I need to draw backgrounds, logos and icons for each system.

      I really thought that you were a decent person when you first replied but you have proved me wrong, you have gone against my wishes and my license terms and have now released a video of a badly converted version of my SNES mini theme that you also plan to release ( https://youtu.be/00RJKR7ZEGg ).
      I spend months working on these and you churn out a badly converted version in a few days and try to claim credit for it - and you have the cheek to say you aren't a thief in the video. People like you make me want to stop releasing themes. I have zero respect for you and what you do.

      I've asked nicely for you to not to release modified versions of my theme but you haven't responded. The links for download are still active and you've posted a youtube video today with links to another image containing a modified version of my theme. This is against my license terms and is disrespectful.
      As I have said I will release an official recalbox version of my themes, please delete those downloads.

      Apologies for the delay, I've had a lot going on this past month so haven't had much time, I will get the theme ported very soon though.

      Thanks or the reply, everyone here has been very friendly and I'm grateful for your patience and understanding.
      The port is still going ahead. My plan currently is to merge the nes/famicom/snes themes into one as it will be much easier to port and maintain 1 theme rather than 3. After that I can then keep both the retropie and recalbox versions updated simultaneously.

      Out of interest is it possible now to compile the recalbox version of ES on windows? I don't think it is (I did try myself a while back) but thought it was worth asking. If not I'll see about setting up a Linux machine to make working on the theme a little easier as it's not the best experience developing a theme solely on the pi itself.

      Hi, just a quick update for everyone. I've put a lot of work into the theme the past week in order to merge the snes and nes mini themes together. It turned out that it was a much bigger task than I originally anticipated but it seems to be working well now. I still need to add the Famicom theme and I have a few bugs to iron out but I'm much closer now to getting the Recalbox version made now that everything is all together (makes much more sense to port 1 theme rather than 3 separate themes).

      You can read about the updates I've made on the retropie forum if you're interested: https://retropie.org.uk/forum/topic/12583/snes-mini-theme/708

      Hello. First my apologies, I only speak English so I'm using Google Translate to read this thread so I'm sorry if I misinterpret anything here.

      Je suis d'accord à peut près sur la licence en encore c'est plus une licence intellectuelle qu'autre chose , par contre pas de copyright.

      Copyright automatically belongs to the artist who created them, I created all the backgrounds, Icons, logos and xml code myself (which has been months of work). I choose to share my work for others to use but I have conditions which are clearly stated in the readme, these are my conditions:

      License

      This theme is being actively developed, a great deal of work has been put into the theme and art so please do not use the graphics I have created in other projects (with the exception of any graphics that are an exact copy of of those from the real 'NES classic'/'Famicom mini' menu).

      You are free to modify the theme for your personal use only - please do not share modified versions of this theme.

      Commercial distribution is prohibited

      As you can see @MikOzzZ just ignored my wishes completely (and he must have read it as he translated the readme into French).

      Everyone contributing to recalbox, retropie and other projects are doing it for free and it's disheartening when people take credit for or profit from that work.

      @dark_néo said in Theme MiniNes:

      oui enfin il y a d'autre mots moins tape à l'oeil que violé ^^ , d'ailleurs en >jettant un rapide coup d'oiel sur le forum de rétropie il me semble qu'une >personne à déjà fait une modification de son thème et pourtant il n'en a pas fait tout un flan sur leur forum :

      https://retropie.org.uk/forum/topic/12634/custom-es-theme-nes-mini-master

      I am aware of that post and the user has not released that modification.
      People are allowed to modify my themes for their personal use, as long as they don't share the modified version.

      As I've said already I will be converting my themes for use in Recalbox. I've been advised that there are some improvement coming to recalbox in the next release so I'm waiting until thene so that I can make the best conversion possible.

      Sorry for the late reply, now the changes are implemented I'll get to porting the theme. You'll have to give me little time.

      @ruckage Hi,
      I already worked on your theme (just structural changes, not art) to adapt it but won't release. What I can do is provide you the files so you can have a look.

      Thanks, if you can send it to me I can have look to see what changes you made. I'm planning to re-format the theme but that would be helpful to show me how the new features work.

      Thanks for the support @Substring , and you're correct I'll post as soon as I have anything ready.
      That being said I honestly don't mind people asking how things are going as long as I'm not being nagged every 5 minutes 🙂 .

      I've been very sidetracked recently for various reasons - most recently because grid view has just been added to retropie which is very exciting news and I want to add support for it to my themes. I think I've kept you all waiting too long already though so I will get to work on the recalbox ports starting today.

      So in answer to you question @jrochagouveia no news yet but there will be soon 🙂

      Out of interest which theme are you all most interested in? The nes mini theme or the snes mini theme?

      In regards to my last post I think I may have just found the answer in the themes.md file and it looks like it's possible so that will make porting easier. (I should have looked more carefully).

      Hi! I just bought a nes case for my pi3, and I'll be here just waiting for that port too 🙂 I just LOVE the nes theme @ruckage made... crossing fingers for recalbox port 🙂

      Port is definitely coming, I've been reworking things in the retropie version to make porting to recalbox and then maintaining both in the future easier.

      Hello, I have replied @vinci-boy via personal message but thought I should paste my response here also. My apologies for replying in English but I can't speak French.

My wishes are clearly stated in the the readme found with the theme from which you took the images (my license is below).

      @sergioad
      Absolutely, the ability to adjust the theme settings within Recalbox instead of via the config.xml will be implemented as It's great feature and one I wish was included in Retropie myself.
      The custom control icons I use are to maintain the look of the theme so I'd really like to use them but I'll see - they could also be optional.

      Sadly a port of the NeoGeo mini theme wouldn't currently be possible as unless I'm mistaken Recalbox doesn't support any kind of Grid View (correct me if I'm wrong). the same will be true for the gridview carousel mode I'm adding to the Snes mini theme.

      Hello. I have a quick question regarding the $system variable in recalbox. Can anyone tell me if you can use the '$system' variable within the include tag.

      For example something like:

      <include>./layout/$system.xml</include>

      The ability to do this is now being added to retropie and it would be useful when porting my theme if the same was possible also in recalbox.

      @substring Are you talking about the white barre in the carrousel ??
      i'm keeping my breath and crossing my fingers 🙂

      Yeah, the main changes I would need are the carousel customisation. Assuming its the same as on Retropie you can customise pretty much everything - position, bar height, bar width, bar colour, orientation (horizontal or vertical), Icon size, icon scaling factor, etc.
