PC Engine CD and Sega CD Games
-
Hi guys,
I'm going through a major stalemate regarding my PC Engine CD and Sega CD games.
I have long had your romsets tidy in the following situation .iso and .mp3, in addition to the .cue files
For some reason the emulators do not read MP3 files, and should read, since many of the
Recalbox users run their roms on microsd cards, and few use a HDD to make the most of games.I will cite as an example the PC Engine CD game
4 in 1 Super CD
The cue / bin files have 504MB
While
The iso / mp3 files have 53,5MB
An absurdly big difference, and that would fit a lot more games to play.
Can you think, why both games, that you will not even play? Or if you finish the game delete and put another, but I do not think.
In this way, game overdue, I go to another game and the others who play with me have that game always available, without loss of time to copy the roms.Already in Sega CD games, the game even runs through the .cue/bin but the audiotrack in MP3 does not work
Example .cue file of the Final Fight game
FILE "Final Fight.bin" BINARY TRACK 01 MODE1/2048 INDEX 01 00:00:00 POSTGAP 00:02:00 FILE "Final Fight 02.mp3" MP3 TRACK 02 AUDIO PREGAP 00:02:00 INDEX 01 00:00:00 FILE "Final Fight 03.mp3" MP3 TRACK 03 AUDIO INDEX 01 00:00:00 FILE "Final Fight 04.mp3" MP3 TRACK 04 AUDIO INDEX 01 00:00:00 FILE "Final Fight 05.mp3" MP3 TRACK 05 AUDIO INDEX 01 00:00:00 FILE "Final Fight 06.mp3" MP3 TRACK 06 AUDIO INDEX 01 00:00:00 FILE "Final Fight 07.mp3" MP3 TRACK 07 AUDIO INDEX 01 00:00:00 FILE "Final Fight 08.mp3" MP3 TRACK 08 AUDIO INDEX 01 00:00:00 FILE "Final Fight 09.mp3" MP3 TRACK 09 AUDIO INDEX 01 00:00:00 FILE "Final Fight 10.mp3" MP3 TRACK 10 AUDIO INDEX 01 00:00:00 FILE "Final Fight 11.mp3" MP3 TRACK 11 AUDIO INDEX 01 00:00:00 FILE "Final Fight 12.mp3" MP3 TRACK 12 AUDIO INDEX 01 00:00:00 FILE "Final Fight 13.mp3" MP3 TRACK 13 AUDIO INDEX 01 00:00:00 FILE "Final Fight 14.mp3" MP3 TRACK 14 AUDIO INDEX 01 00:00:00 FILE "Final Fight 15.mp3" MP3 TRACK 15 AUDIO INDEX 01 00:00:00 FILE "Final Fight 16.mp3" MP3 TRACK 16 AUDIO INDEX 01 00:00:00 FILE "Final Fight 17.mp3" MP3 TRACK 17 AUDIO INDEX 01 00:00:00 FILE "Final Fight 18.mp3" MP3 TRACK 18 AUDIO INDEX 01 00:00:00 FILE "Final Fight 19.mp3" MP3 TRACK 19 AUDIO INDEX 01 00:00:00 FILE "Final Fight 20.mp3" MP3 TRACK 20 AUDIO INDEX 01 00:00:00 FILE "Final Fight 21.mp3" MP3 TRACK 21 AUDIO INDEX 01 00:00:00 FILE "Final Fight 22.mp3" MP3 TRACK 22 AUDIO INDEX 01 00:00:00 FILE "Final Fight 23.mp3" MP3 TRACK 23 AUDIO INDEX 01 00:00:00 FILE "Final Fight 24.mp3" MP3 TRACK 24 AUDIO INDEX 01 00:00:00 FILE "Final Fight 25.mp3" MP3 TRACK 25 AUDIO INDEX 01 00:00:00 FILE "Final Fight 26.mp3" MP3 TRACK 26 AUDIO INDEX 01 00:00:00

As far as I know, the emulators don't support mp3 files, so try opening an issue on the libretro ports for picodrive and/or genesisplusx (I don't remember which one is the segacd emulator), same for pcecd.
Usually the cue files point to other .bin files wich are really just .wav files with the extension changed, thus the size difference to .mp3.
But I might be wrong as well XD -

Making the method that @acris put yes, but it is not what I want, I think of the size of the files the probability of implementing the isos with mp3, to gain more disk space.
Particularly I do not know who to ask, it is for the recalbox group if you have to implement to run iso / mp3, or for the libretro group and then you get them.
I believe that this is of paramount importance, remembering that users have space limitations due to microsd.

@azvarel
for the PC Engine CD emulator refer to:

GenesisPlusGX
https://github.com/libretro/Genesis-Plus-GX/issues
Although they might tell you to ask about it further upstream as well.

@paradadf
thanks. -
@azvarel You must use the CHD format for gaining some place with PCE Games. Get CHDman and convert your games
