Dear community, dear developers, I use my Raspberry Pi as a recalbox for a few months now and all I can say is: thank you! After my N64 was sold by my not-so-smart sibling I thought I'd had to play my favourite games on PC-emulators with a keyboard.
Now I got my recalbox and am playing my all-time favourite games with "real" controls since 11 years and it feels just like it was back in the good old days. 
After a little bit of troubleshooting it works like a charm and there are just a little bit of changes I would suggest for the future. Therefore, I just wanted to use this forum to thank you all to bring my heroes back to my place. Your work shall be honored!

Xenon, I am at whits end trying to get N64 up and running. Do you remember what settings you tweaked to get it up and running? Everything i've searched for seems to be outdated. Thanks!

Hey sag, what happens when you try to start an N64 game? You have to configure a few things manually in the config file like the N64 core you want to use. The second thing is the controller which is not configured from the beginning as well. You have to set up your buttons manualy as well. But first of all: what happens when you try to start N64?

I see, since the 4.0.0 Beta 1 you dont have to configure the N64 or the controller manually by yourself.

indeed, mupen is autoconfigured like any other emulator
