      Hello everyone,

Since I made the update 18.07.13, my msx does not work with a fresh install or the beta. I tested with the emulator fmsx and bluemsx. Via bluemsx it comes back to the selection screen of msx games and by fsmx I have a black screen. What do you recommend me ?

@storm have you added the required bios files?

          @paradadf Thanks for your help
I downloaded the BlueMSX standalone version, available to this adresse : http://bluemsx.msxblue.com/rel_download/blueMSXv282full.zip
Then extract the "Databases" and "Machines" folders and add them to the bios folder of my recalbox

            ## BIOS ##

            - BlueMSX (EMULATOR MSX BY DEFAULT) :
You must download the BlueMSX standalone version, available to this adresse : http://bluemsx.msxblue.com/rel_download/blueMSXv282full.zip
Then extract the "Databases" and "Machines" folders and add them to the bios folder of your recalbox.

            - FMSX :
You must have these following files, available with fmsx distribution, in the bios folder of your recalbox :
            CARTS.SHA
            CYRILLIC.FNT
            DISK.ROM
            FMPAC.ROM
            FMPAC16.ROM
            ITALIC.FNT
            KANJI.ROM
            MSX.ROM
            MSX2.ROM
            MSX2EXT.ROM
            MSX2P.ROM
            MSX2PEXT.ROM
            MSXDOS2.ROM
            PAINTER.ROM
            RS232.ROM

@oyyodams Cool, Thank you very much! I downloaded fsmx @ https://github.com/libretro/fmsx-libretro and I put the files you told me to the root of the bios folder. That works but the keyboard it's necessary ?
              Bluemsx doesn't work.

@Storm Have you been able to fix this issue? I am experiencing a quite similar issue, even on the latest Recalbox 6. Can you tell me how you resolved it? I'm on Rsbp 3+. Thanks!

@samba both emulator work if you add the bios files.

@paradadf Thanks so much for your help. Happy I'm not yet abandoned alone 😉
Actually, I have already tried everything I can. Of course I tried with blueMSX and fMSX with different versions.

One thing I found meanwhile, there is an error when I run a game in verbose mode via ssh:

                    [INFO] [MIDI]: Initializing ...
ALSA lib seq_hw.c:466:(snd_seq_hw_open) open /dev/snd/seq failed: No such file or directory
[ERROR] [MIDI]: snd_seq_open failed with error -2.
[ERROR] [MIDI]: Initialization failed (list of input devices unavailable).

Should this be a reason? This is a vanilla install with fMSX BIOS only. If you want me to try something different for logging, please let me know. Thanks!!

@samba a vanilla install is not enough. You MUST add the bios files.

@paradadf Thanks, but as I mentioned, I added fMSX files on top of vanilla Recalbox. Below is what I have in the bios directory. Do I need anything else? Please let me know!

In my case, it turned out that only .zip worked. Neither .mx1 nor .rom ran, however, they all worked well after zipping them. I also tested on Retropie and Batocera, and confirmed they all had the same issue. Could be fMSX's issue. Hope this would help someone in the future.
