F4 does not exit EmulationStation

Hello! When I try press F4 on EmulationStation to go terminal, appears a black screen and freeze the RPi, having to restart. How can I fix it?

Hello you must be F4 after ALT+F2

Try to do the F4 + ALT F2 combination before launching a game.
