Solved Performance issues after update rpi3
-
Hello Guys. I updated my RPI3b from 4.1 today to 1.12.17 and now the whole system freeze for a nanosecond every 3 to 5 seconds. This problem is in the Recalbox Main Menu when i scroll between the systems, in the rom menu inside of a system where i choose a rom and inside a emulator. I dont know why. The configs didnt change and psx runs without these freezes.

@backpaddle same issue playing PSP games....

I also had this problem, in my case it was the steam controller module (or driver). Connect via ssh to your recalbox, then look under /var/log and check if the file "messages" is continuously growing (ls -la gives you the file listing and size). With "cat messages" you can see the log messages. If you see something like steam controller, go to /etc/init.d , make the system writeable with "mount -o remount rw, /" and disable steam controller loading with "chmod -x S92steamcontroller". Reboot system and now it should work

D**n. I was going to do the update but can't see the point if it's going to break things.

@tonificante Cool!!! THX!!! Issue solved I had the same issue

Hi all,
Thanks for you messages. An issue has been opened, we are working on it.
-
@tonificante Issue solved for me too, thank you !
-
A new upgrade with an official fix will be available soon
-
@oyyodams What is the tecnical issue?
Thx @tonificante

@keroin8bits The steam controller feature makes freezes. We have to investigate. Most of users don't need this feature, so by default it will be disabled, with an option to enable it in recalbox.conf. This is a quick fix. The real issue about steam controller will take some more time to be fixed.

a fixed recalbox version will be available in the afternoon (CET speaking)
-
awsome, thanks for the very fast response and help.
-
What is the Steam controller for?
kind regards.

I have edit recalbox.conf file, by network access, and I can't find any steam controller option. Exactly, where I can fix the problem?

@srato please wait, the upgrade will be available soon.

@oyyodams thanks for you fast answer... but it's sat**day night and I have planed a retro games session with my friends.... and now we can't play with recalbox.
I know that the team do a great and hard work, many thanks for it, but do you know when we can get this update?
Thanks again.
-
@srato You can manually disable the module / driver to fix the freezes. Please check my previous answer in this thread and follow the instructions there.
-
@tonificante thanks. I fix it temporally using your ssh method.
regards.

I have the same exact issue using the 8BitDo Nes30 Pro

@Substring after the 2017/12/02 update I'm still detect a lot freezing. Less than before, for sure, but still persist.
I can detect easier when I see a chapter under kodi. I can see the freezing each 15/30 seconds...
Can you improve it?? If it's possible.
Thanks.
