Yep the current releases will certainly not work out of the box.
Check our blog, we'll communicate when rpi0-w will be supported.

I see no trace of specific code on the pi firmware, so it might just work OOtB in 4.1

Noobs b*mped kernel/firmware 8 days ago to support this new rpi0-w version.

They always keep VERY up to date with the kernel main line. But i see no specific commit for pi0-W

Most probably everything is "more or less ready" in the current firmware + dtb. Wait and see ^^

Also looks like their next kernel will be 4.9
