How to Set Resolution to 1080p on retroarch?

Hello! Say one big thank you for great program. I have a question. My Pi2 boots into full 1080p mode(my tv can support up to 1080p). however upon selection of a game, retroarch changes the resolution to 720p. on exiting the game/retroarch, my Pi2 returns back to 1080p mode. so, I'm wondering how to fix the resolution to make it displaying 1080p. I'd manually set custom-retroarch.cfg but the problem still persist.

higher resolution needs more emulation power, from this point of view it's fine as it is, I only see in scummvm that the screen is not streched.

Hi, yes exactly. It's in 720p, but it could be in 480p you would not see the difference. So i don't see the point of having 1080p on games with native resolution of 256px...
