Boot video not working
-
I put a 720p, 14 second long boot, mp4 file into \recalbox\share\bootvideos and it just shows a default recalbox boot video. I have no idea why it's doing this, if anyone can help that would be great.

@luckyducky yep, I asked about this months ago and got no answer.
There is a bug in Recalbox, BUT, its simple to work around.Firstly, you obviously need to edit the recalbox.config file in recalbox\system
Change line 36 ish to: system.splash.select=custom
And, save the changes. Now, boot up Recalbox, and whilst its running, log into your Pi remotely via WinSCP, and copy your video files to the recalbox\bootvideos folder, then shut down Recalbox.
When you reboot, your videos will play
I'm not sure if I can post links, so, if you go onto Youtube and search for "AD&MEDIA" [ without spaces - this site is inserting spaces] you will see that these guys do some fantastic Recalbox boot videos. I've put about 7 or 8 of theirs on my usb stick

Did you modify your recalbox.conf ? You should set
system.splash.select
tocustom

@davidb2111 um, isnt that what I said 2 days ago?
Also, that alone doesn't work due to the bug.
As I mentioned, you also need to copy the files over whilst Recalbox is running or they won't play.
Im sure I read this was on the "to do" list of fixes.

Sure, I've just tested on the last internal beta and it works.

I've encountered an issue with my boot video on Recalbox. Despite placing a 720p, 14-second MP4 file into the \recalbox\share\bootvideos directory, it continues to display the default Recalbox boot video instead. I'm perplexed by this unexpected behavior and unsure of how to resolve it. If anyone in the community has experience with this issue or suggestions for troubleshooting, I would greatly appreciate your assistance. I've checked the file location multiple times to ensure it's correct, but it seems like something else might be at play. Using PicsArt APK, I've created an annotated image of the file directory to illustrate the setup and provide additional context. Any insights or guidance would be immensely helpful in getting my custom boot video to display properly.
