Save configuration mame

Hi, thanks for introducing the core of mame 2003 in this version of recalboox. I have a question, using the tab key on mame entered the menu of the dip swich. I edit controls in a game and put in free play mode that still leaves some games that put coins with the Select button if the same button is hotkey. But when you leave the game, return to the frontend and re-enter the game I’ve modified dip swich or controls these settings is not saved. Is there some way that those customized settings remain saved in those games? Thank you for this magnificent work is the Recalbox

In Retropie the solution is: I just needed to add a folder in /opt/retropie/configs/mame-mame4all/ and name it "cfg" then create a blank text document inside the folder and name it "default.cfg" But in Recalbox I not know. Same problem

same problem. playing mame is pretty difficult when i have to spend 5 minutes setting up the buttons every time.

awesome idea. tried it, but ended up losing all gpio inputs. i think i'm doing it. #6 says to add a line of code to recalbox.conf, "<span style="font-family: Consolas, 'Liberation Mono', Menlo, Courier, monospace; font-size: 13.6px; line-height: 21.76px; background-color: rgba(0, 0, 0, 0.0392157);">neogeo.configfile=/recalbox/share/system/configs/retroarch/inputs/neogeo_custom.cfg"</span> what do i change that too if i want to do it to mame? I tried "mame.configfile=/recalbox/..." (yes i made sure i referenced the correct new file name). any ideas? i feel like this is close
