Keyboard Not Showing Up As Controller

Hi all, I have an issue. So over the weekend I built a controller out of a keyboard. It is basically a fightstick/keyboard mix. I go to configure it in recalbox, and it doesn't show up as a controller, even after I configure it. Anyone willing to lend me some wisdom?

keyboards are not supposed to work straight without any tweaking. Was that keyboard working before ?

What kind of tweaking? I sent this reply a week ago and it apparently didn't go through.
