Solved Favorites Not Saving
-
I've been trying to set up a favorites folder so I can put my favorite games in one location. I can go through each folder and label each game I want as a favorite. The "Favorites" folder appears on the main menu with all of my favorite games, just like I wanted. But once I turn the system off, it removes all the favorites that I have picked. So is there a way to save my favorites, or am I doing something wrong?

@Disnoid it is very important to safely shutdown your rpi every time. Not just disconnecting the psu nor using the fast shutdown option. Just use the standard shut down through the menu and your favorites will be properly saved.

Once you have created your favorites folder and all is correct, just reboot the system from the menu and verify that all is working. If it is there after a reboot, you are good. If it is still not showing properly after a reboot from the start menu then there may be some other issue.

@paradadf My concern is that I'm installing this into a homemade arcade unit. So I would normally power it off with a power strip. So are you saying that in order to save my favorites, I will have to go into the menu and shut down that way each time I want to turn my arcade unit off? Pretty sure my kids will just hit the power strip.

@Disnoid do you just unplug your pc from the power or turn it off through the menu? It is the same here.
And it does not only have to do with favorites being saved... your system can get easly corrupted if you keep doing that. -
This is a very bad idea. You really need to figure out a protocol for shutting down your gaming computer properly. Just because its in a console does not mean its designed to be shutdown improperly. Its a Linux computer with an SD card and memory. If you just shut it down like that regularly you will corrupt the SD card (or hard drive if installed) and your OS will become unstable.
As far as saving favorites the processes provided already are correct.

@Disnoid there are some options here: https://github.com/recalbox/recalbox-os/wiki/Add-a-start-stop-button-to-your-recalbox-(EN)
