    • My Zelda Arcade Cabinet

      Hello everyone,

      thanks to your wonderfull project which is recalbox, and thanks to the community, I was able to get enough motivation to build my own arcade cabinet. I chose Zelda theme and I was inspired by Phrazelle : https://www.instructables.com/id/Legend-of-Zelda-Bartop-Arcade-Cabinet/

      My father and I worked on it since last year. here are few pictures about this :

      I used 2 usb encoders hosting 12 buttons each (necessary to play N64 or PSX games even if sometimes I agree that it's not easy)

      I used the next level theme which I reviewed for the buttons configuration so I customized it for each emulator. example with N64 :

      0_1553342878700_n64.png

      So player can see this during the game selection list for N64 here and it makes things easyer before starting a game 🙂

      The speakers are on the sides since I used some nice ones dedicated for cars at the beginning and it was too big to place them on the top corners of the screen on the square panel.

      since I only had 4 USB ports on the PI3, I used 2 of them for the encoders, 1 for a usb key for my games and configurations and a last one for a nice keyboard with touchpad included. this keyboard is hidden on the bottom part and is very nice to play games like ScummVM, MSDOS and some others. that means I didn't convert the sound to USB but I let it in jack. maybe not the best choice ever but the sound quality is good enough for me actually. I'm using a potentiometer which is on the top left corner of the main board to adapt the sound :

      0_1553343297038_potentiometer.png

      It's the first time i'm working on a project like this without any specific skills (some in programming a bit but that's it) so it's not perfect but I like it how it is actually :-). i felet a lack of skill especially in electronic stuff. With some more knowledges I think I would have been able to do much better.

      For the sticker, I took some pictures from internet and I pasted them in order to build some nice designs with filters. I used GIMP for all of them. there are 3 of them I just found on internet and didn't change at all cause they were already nice to me.

      I hope you will appreciate it 🙂

      I wanted to thanks everyone who participated in the recalbox project, and also a lot of people from the community who helped me a lot to make my arcade cabinet done.
      Special thanks to :

      @abunille for his help to my mapping issues I had with NES and ScummVM
      @Norde for his help to modify the theme and add my own button configuration mapping
      @Gaetan for his wonderful theme i'm using here.(great job !)
      @Substring & @acris for their help to optimise PSP games

      Bonjour,
      @voljega je profite de ce topic pour rajouter une question :
      qu'en est il de ScummVM? peut-on mapper des touches sur gamepad?
      certains jeux point and click comme les indiana jones requièrent d'autres touches pour le combat par exemple.
      Merci.
      désolé @JRbaka de m'incruster 🙂

      @silenz
      Hello.
      par rapport à tes jeux pixélisés, as-tu essayé différents shaders? de mémoire il faut faire hotkey + fleche du haut ou fleche du bas pour les faire défiler.

      Pour la dreamcast elle nécessite l'ajout de bios.
      as-tu pensé à les ajouter?
      voir procédure ci-dessous (partie dreamcast) :

    • RE: Ajouter un dessin de la répartition des boutons/touches pour chaque émulateur

      @norde

      dans le XML, le logo est appelé à 2 reprises. il s'agit d'appeler un logo différent la 2eme fois uniquement.
      donc j'ai une image en plus par émulateur. Je dois manuellement faire ca pour le fichier xml dans chaque dossier de l'émulateur. ensuite je dois reprendre à chaque fois un dessin "template" pour y ajouter les touches en couleur et les lettres utilisées. ce sera ce fichier image qui sera appelé dans le xml.

      exemple : mon nouveau fichier snes.png (voir ci-dessus) sera appelé dans le fichier xml existant du dossier SNES

      le rendu final donne quasiement la meme chose que sur ma première photo tout en haut.

      C'est du bricolage (surtout avec GIMP que j'utilise pour retoucher les logos) mais ça rend bien je trouve 😄

      @reivaax

      A vrai dire je ne savais pas vraiment qu'il y avait des sections pour ça :D.
      Je découvre moi même ce que je peux vraiment faire depuis hier donc c'est un peu frais. Je préfère attendre d'optimiser mon truc un minimum avant de proposer quoi que ce soit. merci pour l'info, je ne garantie pas mais j'essayerai de trouver le temps de le faire. Lorsque mon bartop sera terminé, j'essayerai de poster un truc assez long à ce sujet également, mais ce sera plutôt pour début 2019 je pense :-).

      en tout cas, je prendrai quelques photos du rendu final ce soir histoire de vous montrer ce que ca donne une fois appliqué.

      and here is the amazon link for the kit I purchased : link.
      They are working perfectly with recalbox and allow to host up to 12 buttons / player

      @Norde Thanks :p. actually you told me what I needed to hear to unlock the situation. I'm just not really confident with themes values. I just tried different numbers and crossed my fingers so the design is at the good place :D. I had few tries before I got it like I wanted.

      @Scavy Thanks a lot :-). really appreciate. I'm having a lot of fun yes. (especially when I see my wife falling down everytime in the same hole in mario 3...) She will never learn I suppose.

    • RE: Préparation Bartop. problème re-mapping boutons certains émulateurs (NES, Dreamcast, ScummVM)

      @abunille
      perfect !!
      I tried your method changing core emulator on NES to Nestopia and remapping worked.
      so What I did then after the remapping was to copy paste the RMP file from Nestopia, and rename it to FCEUmm.rmp. then reusing FCEUmm core emulator was working great with good mapping 🙂
      But I think there is clearly a problem with this core emulator since we cannot change the mapping from retroarch but we can with nestopia.
      Here is the config file which worked for me :

      input_player1_btn_b = "8"
      input_player1_btn_a = "-1"
      input_player1_btn_l3 = "0"
      input_player2_btn_b = "8"
      input_player2_btn_a = "-1"
      input_player2_btn_l3 = "0"
      input_libretro_device_p1 = "1"
      input_player1_analog_dpad_mode = "0"
      input_libretro_device_p2 = "1"
      input_player2_analog_dpad_mode = "0"
      input_libretro_device_p3 = "1"
      input_player3_analog_dpad_mode = "0"
      input_libretro_device_p4 = "1"
      input_player4_analog_dpad_mode = "0"
      input_libretro_device_p5 = "1"
      input_player5_analog_dpad_mode = "0"

      cause my mapping looks like this :

      0_1544638257274_mapping.png

      so it's quite strange how the mapping is done with NES emulators but it works now thanks to you.

      Now regarding scummvm,
      I added your lines and assigned buttons according to previous mapping drawing I have but I have 2 issues now :

      • with my joistick, I can only go from left to right ro right to left. it's like up and down don't work here. (It was also the same issue before I update this configuration file actually)
      • my buttons are not taken into account. Could that be that I need to link the scummvm.ini somewhere in recalbox ?

      Thanks.

      You know what. I purchased a nice usb keyboard with integrated touchpad for doom scummvm and msdos :

      And it s actually working great. So I don t care anymore having scummvm working with my buttons and joisticks.

      Regarding the mapping issue on dreamcast. Do you have any idea how i could remap my buttons?

      Thank you ☺️

      @abunille
      Here is the config file which worked for me :

      input_player1_btn_b = "8"
      input_player1_btn_a = "-1"
      input_player1_btn_l3 = "0"
      input_player2_btn_b = "8"
      input_player2_btn_a = "-1"
      input_player2_btn_l3 = "0"
      input_libretro_device_p1 = "1"
      input_player1_analog_dpad_mode = "0"
      input_libretro_device_p2 = "1"
      input_player2_analog_dpad_mode = "0"
      input_libretro_device_p3 = "1"
      input_player3_analog_dpad_mode = "0"
      input_libretro_device_p4 = "1"
      input_player4_analog_dpad_mode = "0"
      input_libretro_device_p5 = "1"
      input_player5_analog_dpad_mode = "0"

      cause my mapping looks like this :

      0_1544638257274_mapping.png

      so it's quite strange how the mapping is done with NES emulators but it works now thanks to you.

      Now regarding scummvm,
      I added your lines and assigned buttons according to previous mapping drawing I have but I have 2 issues now :

      • with my joistick, I can only go from left to right ro right to left. it's like up and down don't work here. (It was also the same issue before I update this configuration file actually)
      • my buttons are not taken into account. Could that be that I need to link the scummvm.ini somewhere in recalbox ?

      Thanks.

      Hey guys thanks for your input ☺️. Actually i was wrong with the version. I confirm you i have a version from 2018. I don t remember exactly the correct one but it s quite recent and i can use vertical wheel with this version for example.

      @abunille i m not sure how to change to nestropia core for nes. I will check on this forum when i ll be back home. I will also take a look on your other tests to perform. Great thanks already for this 🙂.

      Keep you informed by this evening

    • Préparation Bartop. problème re-mapping boutons certains émulateurs (NES, Dreamcast, ScummVM)

      Bonjour à tous.

      avant toute chose, voici ma config existante :
      Raspberry Pi model: PI3B
      Recalbox version : 4.1
      Matériels : Micro SD pour l'OS et USB 3.0 128Go pour les rom/data
      Manette(s): 2 encodeurs USB 12 boutons compatibles recalbox (du moins pour tous les autres émulateurs que j'ai remappés)

      plusieurs recherches m'ont permis de remapper certaines consoles plus compliquées comme la N64 ou la PSP mais je bloque toujours sur certaines consoles pour remapper mes touches : NES, Dreamcast, ScummVM.

      Par rapport à EmulationStation, j'utilise la configuration de touches suivantes (touches en bleu) :

      0_1544270591288_snes.png

      Cependant, je prends l'exemple de la NES, je souhaite la configuration suivante :

      0_1544270981269_nes.png

      et bien meme en passant par retroarch, je n'y arrive pas. les fonctions de remapping que j'utilise sur les autres émulateurs sont juste bloqués et représentés par des "---". impossible d'y affecter des touches :

      0_1544272873706_IMG_20181208_133440.jpg

      Je pense qu'il y a un lien avec mon fichier FCEUmm.rmp, mais je ne comprends pas ce qui cloche. voici le contenu de mon fichier :

      0_1544273111140_FCEUmm.rmp.jpg

      Je ne comprends pas, si qqn a une idée?

      de même pour les consoles Dreamcast et ScummVM, je ne comprends pas trop comment cela fonctionne pour le remmaping donc si un expert passe par là :-).

      Mais bon la NES est pour moi plus importante à régler.

      D'avance merci une fois de plus pour votre aide.

    • RE: mon Bartop, impossible de mapper touches sur emulateur PSP suite à mauvaise manip...

      @voljega hello.
      J ai mappé les encodeur usb dans ES oui mais il reprend une config de touches basés sur la snes. Et je souhaite utiliser 2 boutons differents pour la Nes. Du coup ya que par retroarch que je dois pouvoir faire ca mais quand je vais dans controls je ne peux rien modifier. Assez etrange. Une idee ?
