Hi,
as far as I can remember, in RB version 7.x I could switch on my Recalbox and the Smart TV recognized it and switched itself on and also directly to the correct HDMI output channel. Also, my HDTV could recognize the device as "RECALBOX" (from recalbox conf, I assume).
As far as I know this feature I'm searching for is called HDMI CEC (?) is this correct?
I searched for a flag for switching on/off HDMI CEC in recalbox.conf or any other recalbox user config now with Recalbox 8, but I couldn't find it anymore. Thanks a lot for any help. Maybe this feature has been removed, or I am missing the configuration file.

Ok guys, didn't want to stress it, sorry just was a bit curious.
That is the right answer, it's ready when it is done and stable.

Hi all,
just out of pure interest, does someone know when approximately RB 7.2 or 7.1.2 is being released?
On gitlab I see milestone progress for
7.2: 51%
7.1.2: 18%
https://gitlab.com/recalbox/recalbox/-/milestones
Thanks & Cheers,
fredisback81
Alright. Sounds really good.
And here's the question, does someone know when 7.2 etc. approximately is being released?

Hi all,
this is issue was confirmed as bug in the current version 7.1.1. It could be solved and the fix will be included in the next release.
See:
https://gitlab.com/recalbox/recalbox/-/issues/1492
"V7.1.1 - RECALBOX WiFi intf fails to connect if WPA2 with SHA256 is set"
CHANGELOG.md for the next version says
"- Fix wifi support for open, WPA-PSK-SHA256 and WPA3-Personal (#1492)"
So, also issues with open and WPA3 Personal WiFis will be fixed
Cheers,
fredisback81
As already mentioned from @Zing check my thread if that helps:
https://forum.recalbox.com/topic/22856/recalbox-7-1-1-wifi-not-working-not-connecting
I had the problem that WPA2 with SHA256 was enabled in my router menu / options in wireless security, however this does not work because of a bug in the current version 7.1.1. I tested various options and created an issue for resolving the bug for the project on gitlab, the issue has been found and will be fixed with the next release, check (recalbox developers on gitlab):
https://gitlab.com/recalbox/recalbox/-/issues/1492
a. Check your router menu / wireless and security options
As workaround please set "WPA2 only" (e.g. with AES etc.) but without "SHA256" in your router menu.
b. Check your recalbox.conf file, if the following is set:
region is set to FR or JP? In my case, US worked as well
enable ertm = 1
Do you have any special chars in your PW? In the recalbox.conf it is mentioned that you need to escape these special chars, but it seems that this is not needed anymore.

fredisback81
Hi all,
after some analysis I finally found the issue now. I analyzed a few things: WiFi channel width, encryption, config, password with/without special chars etc.
Note: it is no problem if special chars in the PW are used and it seems it is also no need to escape them anymore!
I found in my WiFi router security settings WPA2 with SHA256 being set which caused the client RECALBOX failing to connect and appear shortly as LEGACY device and disappear afterwards. However, the option WPA2 without SHA256 was also set and I expected a connection fallback to this option which did not happen!
Therefore I opened an issue to the project on Gitlab, please find a more detailed description here: https://gitlab.com/recalbox/recalbox/-/issues/1492
The workaround now was to de-select the option WPA2 with SHA256, or create an additional VAP (virtual access point) for clients which do not support WPA2-SHA256.
Hopefully, this thread and information should help also other members which have troubles to connect. Looking forward for your feedback and a happy new year 2021!

Hi @Zing
@Zing said in Recalbox 7.1.1 - Wifi not working, not connecting:
Everything indicates that the problem is in the special character of the password, see this
Exactly.. yes.. as I have thought - thanks for the link and the tutorial !
Ok, I'll do another research today (WiFi region, channels, encryption etc.) and try out different other things, as mentioned in the french online manual and will try to debug wifi:
https://recalbox.gitbook.io/tutorials/v/francais/reseau/wifi/deb****r-wifi
That problem seems to exist much longer (also mentioned in other threads). If I find a workaround, I'll post it here.
Additionally I may create an official issue to the project on gitlab:
https://gitlab.com/recalbox/recalbox/-/issues
Will post another update here.
Thanks,

Hi all,
again tried the 1st WIFI setup (router: TP LINK WDR 4300, with DD-WRT) with the login (WPA2, AES, no TKIP), which has a special character like "$" in the password: Still no luck.. Will set a new PW.
Could it be a bug in 7.1 or 7.1.1 or a migration bug from 7.0.1 to 7.1.1? In the release notes were some WIFI fixes mentioned, or WPS support added.
Could a fresh installation help? Don't want to lose the "SHARE" partition with its roms, setup, scraped data and configs etc.
Best,
fredisback81
thanks a lot for your help and info!
I tested with a 2nd WiFi (5 Ghz, WPA2, AES) on my other router (modem):
set recalbox.conf file WiFi region to "FR" and it worked like a charme! The PW was set without special characters like "$".
I also tested my original (1st) WiFi setup (also 5 Ghz, WPA2, AES) on my first router:
also set recalbox.conf file WiFi region to "FR" or "JP"; however it still does not work. The PW has set a special character like "$".
Did you have special chars in your PW? It could be there is either a bug in the migration (update from 7.0.1 to 7.1.1) of the recalbox.conf file or other WiFi bug, if you have special chars in the PW? Did something change... other than input method over GUI (circle) in this area in 7.1.1? As far as I know everything worked regarding WiFi in 7.0.1.
Do we have to escape this special character (like mentioned in the recalbox.conf file) or better not? If yes, also escape it over input via GUI? Thanks. I will try out different things today.
Best,
fredisback81
Hi all,
I've automatically upgraded from 7.0.1 or so to 7.1.1: it seems I can't connect to my WiFi at home anymore, edited SSID and PW also directly in the .conf file, set region to US, rebooted etc. nothing really helps. Had a "$" in the PW, escaped it with "", this also should be no problem...
Any idea, is there a logfile with error messages etc. that would help. Otherwise I have to analyze my WLAN / network with tools e.g. Wireshark.
Recalbox: 7.1.1, Rb 3b+
Thanks,
fredisback81
Hi all,
I've no problems to (automatically) configure my PS3 Gamepad / Bluetooth and use it for a myriad of systems, except MAME / Arcade until now.
Since most of these ROMs / systems are special, is there another way of configuring input devices / buttons for these arcade / MAME games? Or what is the idea, that each ROM has to be configured on its own (e.g. within Retroarch / Op
tions / Input configuration ?)
My specs: rpi 3b+, rb 7.0.1, Gamepad: Standard PS3 Bluetooth
Thanks,
fredisback81
Hi all,
same problem here! What I know, screenscraper.fr and its API is blocked for non-registered users up to now.
The hint with the recalbox.conf to add user credentials (from registration at screenscraper.fr) helps a lot in order to call the API as registrated user, which I will try. Thanks!
The status update to the API on screenscraper.fr says:
"The API is closed to all anonymous users (not registered for free on ScreenScraper) for now.
The CPU occupancy rate of the main server seems very high."
I think, that their new setup with loadbalancing still does not work, since CPU1 = 84% and CPU2 = 12%... (ideally it should be 50%/50%) but I don't know their internals.

Hi @Zing
Thanks a lot for your information!
I checked the links and I'd say, yes that helps. I switched the emulator in the metadata to MAME2010 / 2015 and then it worked (I think liberto was selected as default and that did not work).
Thanks also to everyone and of course the french developer team for the amazing work. And yes, if there's translation or technical documentation, or maybe programming needed, I'm happy to contribute in the future.

Hi all,
I am experienced in handling a lot of ROMS except MAME until now and want to dig deeper into arcade gaming.
The link to MAME documentation is not working / empty, I was looking for a short tutorial into arcade gaming. However, I've read that you need a specific BIOS version for the matching ROM file.
Let's say I have a MAME 0.139u1 ROM, where can I get the corresponding BIOS (is there a BIOS collection somewhere)?
From what I've read, the MAME BIOS is not downwards compatible, correct?
Is there a short tutorial existing somewhere?
My specs:
rb 7.0.1, rpi 3b+, ready to go
That's all for now - thanks a lot!
Regards,
Freddy
