Solved "This game is designed to be used with controllers..."

Hi friends! Forgive me if this is a known issue, I tried searching and didn't find anything. There are a few games (namely SMW2-Yoshis Island and Stunt Racers FX) that won't start because it thinks the USB controller is something else (superscope, mouse, whatever). I'm guessing I have to edit the controller file somehow, my only options while in Recalbox is either "default" or "usb controller" or something along those lines.
Which brings me to another problem...when I first got my Pi3 (my brother in law built and set it up for me), I was able to plug in an ethernet cable and access the Pi (or more specifically the Recalbox folders where all the ROMS are stored) through my network on my desktop. Since then, I've installed a wireless USB card, but even when I remove it and plug in an ethernet cable, the only thing I see under my Networks section on my desktop is "\DESKTOP-ALHNSPA" which I'm guessing is the Pi, but theres nothing in it.
How do I get it back so that I'm able to access the Recalbox files to edit the controller settings and what do I change them to do get those games to recognize the controller as a controller?

@kingnothing I don't believe you spent even one minute searching for it, sorry.
